The actual product is good quality as all born free products are. But the variable flow nipples are not what I expected. I was under the impression that the baby's suction was what controlled the flow and it's not. It's based on the position of the nipple in the baby's mouth. So if your baby is on the younger side and you feed him or her with the level 3 side up the baby will be choking and probably will throw up from drinking too fast. So this becomes a real challenge at night trying to make sure that I have the appropriate flow going in the right direction. And I have to then explain this to anyone who feeds my child. Just go with the regular levels instead of the variable flow. It's much easier.

We tried many different brands of bottles with our baby, and Born Free lets him drink quickly while avoiding air in his tummy that can lead to throwing up! Friends of ours use Dr. Brown's and their baby is throwing up and choking for 30 minutes after each feeding. But we've never had a problem once we started using Born Free - I highly recommend them!!!

Just started our new one on a breast milk bottle on 4 Jan 15 and they seem to work great. I (the father) am the one who offers the bottle to our son. He fussed at first but he learned pretty quick. He likes chewing on them while feeding too at times. I certainly recommend this product to new parents.

I used born free with my first and had no problems. With my 2nd daughter the level 3 was way too fast and would come flying out of the sides of her mouth. Ended up changing to Playtex - level three nipples are somewhere between Born Free 2 and 3.

someday someone might make a nipple that stands up to a chewing little monster with teeth. when that day comes, I will give you 5 stars, but I've spent >$100 replace nipples!
but at least through this route I've avoided spending >$110 on nipples...

I was starting to put rice cereal in my sons formula so I bought the Y-cut nipples, however I still had to use scissors to cut them a bit longer or else the food didn't come out. I suppose you could just cut regular nipples into Y-cut without having to buy them.

Stage 3 from Born is perfect for 5-6mo old baby. You will be able to mix 2Tbs of your favorite cereal into 6oz of mixed formula, and the nipple will have no problems with clogging. Cereals tried with this nipple at 2tbs ratio: rice, oatmeal.

I am pleased with how it performs and washing (dishwasher). We used Born from stage 1-3.

I've been using these bottles now for over a year. I have 10 nipples and a year later only 2 of them have larger holes in the nipples then what they started out with. My daughter is also older now though so it doesn't bother her at all. Those bottles just get finished faster. lol I breast fed for the first 11months but she has been using these bottles ever since. I wouldn't recommend these for a newborn or infant though. The nipples are pretty big. They're great for moms who start off breast feeding. When my daughter took a bottle as an infant I gave her Advent nipples. They're much smaller and easier for small babies to use. I like the Born free bottles way better than any other though because they come apart easily for dishwasher safe cleaning, they never gave my daughter gas and they are a great size. I have 6 5oz and 6 9oz bottles. Gets me through 3 days before I run them through the dishwasher. Perfect amount. One downfall for the bottles though is when you transport them with the cap they leak. I always have to make sure they stay standing up. Booo on that.
