I've been using this for about 6 months now and feel I can give a thorough review. I have two boys that have eczema issues and require a heavy topical rx cream to fix the rash. About a year ago I switched to Dr. Bronners baby mild to wash their bodies with. It helped but I noticed a pattern - where clothes had friction on their bodies is where a flare would start. For my older son it was on the sock lines of his legs. I mean i was using "free and clear" detergents! I started to use Dr. Bronners peppermint to wash their clothes in but it wasn't cost effective. I did research on my beloved ewg dot org site and noticed very few detergents are an A rating. Dr Bronners and Molly's were two of only a few.

I did research and saw the stellar reviews on Molly's. I now use it on all our clothes and for a family of 4, one bag will last us at least 7 weeks. I also use vinegar as a fabric softener.

I really do like Molly's. To pretreat for stains I found using dawn dish soap and hydrogen peroxide will do the trick (although I've narrowed it down to sulphates being our trigger). The dawn doesn't irritate their skin as a mixture of pre treat.

The one thing I knocked a star down on was my very dark clothes had this white type stain that won't come out. I usually put my clothes in, then sprinkle Molly's and put my wash on a 8 hour delay. Now I put Molly's in first, then the clothes. Lesson learned.

I don't think it does an amazing job aye getting tough stains out but with my homemade treatment it's only a small extra step.

No more flares by the way!

Oh, and my son wore a pair of socks from last winter recently and I didn't even think anything about it... It was washed in our old detergent. Yep, he got eczema on his leg.Read more ›

I LOVE this detergent! I bought it for the healthy aspect of it, and I'm so glad I did! For one, it's healthy. But for two, it lasts SO long! I think I started using it around December of last year and I'm just now (end of September) getting to the bottom of it!!! $21 for 9 months worth of detergent is awesome! And YES I do a lot of laundry! I have NO complaints! And whenever I contact Molly's Suds on Twitter or Facebook, they're very quick to respond! I just ordered 2 more bags just now, and I'm very excited to not have to buy detergent for a very long time. And, in case you were wondering WHY we should be concerned about the detergent we use....just know that everything we touch, chemically, goes through our skin and into our bloodstream...so even the soaps we use on our clothing can be harmful to our health. Having kids, this is VERY important to me, so I was in search of a great product that was AFFORDABLE. And I found Molly's Suds at our local downtown farmer's market. Their soap is perfume & dye free, there's no formaldehyde, no parabens, no SLS/SLES, no harsh chemicals and no animal testing. And for the price, you REALLY can't go wrong when it lasts for several months!

I've used this and it does a great job and really reasonable in the long run. Remember to wash on warm to do a better job unless the material instructions say otherwise, it still works in cold. I use vinegar as the fabric softener. The size lasts a very long time. For a stain spray I put a scoop of this in a spray bottle with peroxide and lemon juice. Let it fizz over in the sink until it stops then cap the bottle and use as a stain spray. The addition of the laundry soap to the spray makes it work better.

When you first start using this natural laundry soap you need to add vinegar to the wash to remove the layer of chemicals that regular laundry detergent and fabric softener leave in the material. I add about 1 cup of vinegar to the wash in the beginning to remove the chemicals. This is only needed for the first few washes.

I'm very surprised to read other reviews that said this didn't clean their clothes well. I see that *most* reviews say it's the best thing ever and that's the category I fall into! haha
I was nervous to try this since I've tried a bazillion other natural laundry detergents with bad luck. My clothes never seemed as clean or even smelled clean with all the other kinds I've tried. It was frustrating to waste so much money!
But there was no reason to worry! This stuff is THE BEST!! I don't know how or why the natural ingredients in this work so well but they do. My clothes (I used to use Tide or Gain, btw) are just as clean and smell a million times better. Because they don't smell like they were perfumed, they just smell pure and clean! Like... literally exactly how you want clean laundry to smell!
And people aren't lying when they say it lasts forever! I do at *least* one load of laundry every day for my huge family (I have five very messy little kids!) and there's barely a dent in this stuff. If you really wanted to double up or even triple up on the amount you used per load you could and would still be financially similar to other laundry detergents. I've only ever doubled up a few times when I had huge loads of laundry (like bedding or towels) but honestly I'm not sure I even needed to.
Sorry this was long but I really do like this stuff. A lot.
