This is one of those items that ends up being very versatile beyond its obvious use and a must for any type of camping. recently used it for a camping trip and worked great to dry and air-out clothing. I did bring along some 'binder clips' from an office supplies store to make the dry line plastic clips a little more functional to hang things from and used a carabiner to make tying off easier (see photo).

Of course you can use any dry line and of course they would be cheaper, but this is a nifty product that makes things easier. Easy to apply and adjust lenght. Easy hooks for increasing use of the line. And fits the rest of the MSR outfit of course. These guys are experts in back packing needs and thus come-up with equipment that makes the difference.
Check from time to time the prices as you can even get a good deal on this product once in a while.

when backpacking, its the small & light things that many times make the difference ... especially when you make trips in excess of 50 miles without stopping to re-supply!

after many years of accumulating almost everything backpacking, it seems like my transformation to things light & portable is what separated the end of my hobby ... and the beginning of my true exploration of nature ;)

needing to reduce my total backpack weight to under 25 pounds (fully loaded!), i was forced to replace MANY "important" items on my equipment list with small items just like this inexpensive dry line kit.

guess what, its awesome ... i ditched a larger rope and some clothes pins, and was able to reduce my pack weight by over 7 ozs. (its ALL about little reductions, there is NO holy grail for going ultra-light, you must go through the process to understand what you can/cannot eliminate from your equipment list).

WHY do i care so much about reducing weight ... because i can now bring my camera, fishing pole, and even a tripod along on trips ... and that has made for some incredible memories i simply would have never experienced under the "old system."

the best part is there has been NO sacrifices in terms of comfort, safety, or enjoyment ... in fact, its improved because the "discovery" and experiences i get to enjoy now PAST THE POINT i normally would have stopped before seem to somehow be the most memorable ones, for example trips like this up to the top of Half Dome with BSA Troop 537 of Tracy, CA:

[...]

happy backpacking, think light & small and you'll go further, leading to many incredible take-your-breath-away moments ... enjoy !!!

Nice lightweight option if you need to hang up clothes. Not a necessity but nice to have. Used it as to drape a tarp over once. The clips came in handy under the tarp. I hung my lantern as clothes that need to dry from it. Would buy again.

Sturdy, lightweight, and easily deployed. Yes, someone more pack-weight conscious than I wouldn't bother with it but it is handy both when I'm car camping in my truck and when I'm toting my home on my back.

I found the mitten clips nearly useless, especially for heavier wet clothing and I was afraid that my expensive wool would be punctured. Ended up not using them except for sox and briefs, even then there were not many of them and it takes 2 to spread out the garments flat for faster drying. Not really all that much better than a plain line and truckers hitch.Anyone know of some small light clips?

very handy little gadget. Expensive for what you get, but you are paying for the convenience and someone else's ingenuity! I have used it on my back deck and will plan to use it camping. Like the ability to shorten it as necessary. Good quality parts though not sure about leaving it in the sun 24/7 on the deck..sun will damage (here in FL).

Super light weight but very strong. I would recommend having some other rope around though as it is not very long and if your trees are far apart or really thick you might need a little extra rope to hang it up. Cool design that is easy to tighten down and it stays up even when I load it down.
