NOTE: The video contains captured footage of Phantasy Star Online outputting though the OREI Wii2HDMI adapter at 720p. Amazon's video quality does NOT do it justice.

I got this adapter so I could record high quality gameplay footage of Gamecube games with my backwards compatible Wii and HDMI capture card. The capture card I own isn't that great at capturing good footage of standard definition sources, even a component signal. With the OREI Wii2HDMI adapter, that's all changed. I can now capture high quality footage without having to upscale or tweak the footage in other programs. Gamecube games that support progressive scan mode like Phantasy Star Online and Zelda:Twilight Princess look amazing on my HDTV.

I only had one issue. When the Wii2HDMI adapter was directly hooked up to my capture card, I encountered the flickering issue some people complain about. But when I moved my Wii into the living room and hooked it up to my 42 inch HDTV with a Sewell HDMI powered splitter, this stopped happening. No more flickering. So with my splitter, one signal is going to my HDTV and the other is hooked up to a 25 foot HDMI cable going to my capture card & computer in the other room. Haven't had any problems at all on either display since I hooked it up to the powered splitter and can record HD footage flawlessly.

The OREI HD-W2H Wii to HDMI Converter was a good solution for my family TV situation. Our TV has only one composite/component input, but I thought needed two to avoid having to plug and unplug different devices. This coverter was the solution. I am satisfied with this purchase and would purchase a gain. I gave the product 4 out of 5 stars because the Wii menu, games and Netflix look darker now.

I was seeing a lot of noise/ghosting, flickering, and dull colors using the "Official Wii Component Video Cable" with a Sony STR810 HDMI head unit and a 47" Sharp Aquos LCD TV. This was happening in both the standard resolution and 480p. I tried changing the advanced settings on the TV (i.e. adaptive contrast, DCR, SMP) and it would reduce it, but it wouldn't go away. I installed the OREI HD-W2H Wii to HDMI Converter along with an Amazon Basics HDMI cable and it is a much cleaner, flicker/ghost free and brighter picture. 100% better. The price was a little bit high, but it was worth it. I've tried toggling the OREI HD-W2H Wii to HDMI Converter between 1080p and 720p and can't tell any difference. My only complaint about the product are that it was a very tight fit going into the Wii and I had to push unusually hard to get the HDMI cable in. Not a big deal, but worth noting. Also, the sound volume through the HDMI is around 2x louder as compared every other HDMI input on my stereo. i.e. I generally watch shows, listen to music at 40 whereas I have to turn the Wii down to 20 to get similar results.

I too was a recipient of a new TV purchase trying to hook up older components to it's almost all HDMI jacks.
This Orei converter finished the last problem I encountered hooking everything up.
I used the component hook-up for DVD. The Optical Audio cable for the Surround receiver,
and the Orei HDMI converter for the Wii. Now I do not have to unplug the DVD to plug in the Wii.
Great product!
I really had no concern about having Hi-Def, just wanted to have everything hooked up, and not have to
change out every time I wanted to play the Wii.

The Wii picture on the flat LCD screen looks great. Sound level is a bit on the high side, so you have to turn it to a fairly low setting, but that is not a problem at all. All in all very happy so far.
