The product was very easy to install. It's fairly large, so it fit a little snugly into the electrical box. It looks really neat once installed. The LED's are not intuitive though. They blink even when the fan or lights are off. To stop this, switch the fan off with the large button. The LED's will continue to blink, but then press and hold the large button for 3-5 seconds until the fan comes on, then turn off with the large button again. The LED's won't flash until the next time one of the smaller, timer buttons are used. The instructions are not very helpful with describing this override. In a dark room the LED flashing is annoying. I would have given 5 stars if it weren't for the LED issue.

wow, this GE design will drive you crazy. To the side of the push button and at the bottom of the large button there is a very bright light that flashes every 20 seconds. It flashes during use and after the last button was pressed. To add to that flashing, the one below the large button also flashes. So, on mine, I always have two lights flashing ( next to the function time last pressed and the large button) every 20 seconds, 24 hours a day and 7 days a week. So how bright are these burst or light you ask. In my small bathroom, the whole room lights up enough to know that there is a light flashing. Not enough to land an airplane but really aggravating to me when the lights are off. A better design would have been a very dim steady light for the function pressed instead of the high intensity flashing lights all the time. The timer itself seems to work fine after two days of testing.

I was having a tough time finding a timer, that didn't need a neutral in the switchbox, for my new bathroom fan that takes very little power. This one even works if you have LED lighting or new low power fans. It works perfectly.

It takes about a minute to charge after you turn the power back on after installing, then it's easy to operate. Press the button for the time period you want and the fan starts. A blue LED blinks every few seconds to indicate which time has been selected. If the fan is running press the big unmarked button to stop. If the fan has already stopped press the large button to recall the last countdown period and start the fan. Pretty simple, yet very functional.

I cut one star for being so ugly!

Update:

Read the product description, the two models to choose from have a significant difference - one needs a neutral, the other does not.

I put the ugly star back... once I saw the newer angle button model.
That blinking blue light is bright at night when your eyes are adjusted to the dark. It can seem to light up the room so it's not a good choice for the a bedroom.
It's been working flawlessly for years.

I was a bit worried about using this since it didn't have a neutral and its on a GFCI protected circuit . the directions state it wont work without the ground connected and I suspect it is drawing power from hot to the ground to run the electronic without a neutral but it works just fine, GFCI doesn't trip . It is pretty deep however, 1 1/2 " and you had better have a lot of room in your box- I didn;t and had to put it in a wiremold surface mount box to allow enough room for it to work

On the unit I received the little blue indicator lights do not continuously flash but just flash twice in quick succession right after you push the button to indicate the time unit selected. Do not seem to continuously flash when in use or not in use (I watched closely for several minutes each way to be sure). It appears GE has been listening to the reviews and has corrected that issue at least partially. As for those who want continuous on indicator lights I'm not sure that is possible without making the unit leak too much power to the ground wire that it would trip GFIs (that is how it powers the internal electronics without a neutral white wire connection, it leaks a very tiny amount of electricity of only a couple volts and a few mA to the ground wire, at least according to my multi-meter). As it is, the current it leaks to the ground is so small that it doesn't trip GFIs at least not any of the ones I tried. Pulling more power to keep the indicator lights on continuously might mess that up, I don't know that for sure but that's my suspicion as to why they haven't done that.

As to how to manual override to unlimited time so it stays on until you turn it off. Starting from the unit being off push and hold down the big button for like 3+ seconds until the unit finally turns on while you are still holding down the big button and only the indicator light on the bottom of the big button flashes and none of the six indicator lights above next to the time indicators flash. Release the big button and it will now stay on until you hit the big button again, for days on end if needed. Good to know for leaving just couple lights on in the house when going on vacation or such so the house still looks occupied or if you really do need more then 4-hours of time on.Read more ›

This is one of the few timers that has a range from 5 minutes to 4 hours. That's perfect for a bathroom timer whether for an embarrassing whiff, or you want it to completely dry out after a long shower. It's convenient to be able to start the time of your choice with a simple press of a button.

Installation was a breeze. I saw a comment about how deeply inset this product was. It fit snugly, but there was no problem or need to buy any additional hardware to accomodate it. I saw some comments about the blue LED light being bothersome. I don't mind it at all. Mine is being used in a bathroom, and not next to my face in a bedroom. Note also that this timer is not a precision clock. "Four hours" turned out to be more like four hours and twenty minutes. Again, that's just fine for my goals.

Now that I've tried it out, I'm ordering a second one.
