The paper is thick and looks handmade. It consists of five groups of pages with oversewn binding, you can see the cross stitching in the photo provided. I have provided some photos for scale and reference as I was surprised at how small it was, but I was pleased when using it as it fits anywhere like a small paperback book.

A friend of mind likes to write poetry and also likes dark, Wiccan-like things, so I thought this book would be perfect for her with the soft leather cover and parchment-like pages. You could easily imagine dipping a quill in ink and committing your innermost thoughts to paper.

Whatever the content, be it the rap lyrics you've worked on since 1984, the inappropriate poems you've been squirreling away about your neighbor (you know the one), the haikus detailing your devotion to dryer lint, the autobiography you're ghost writing for your cat, or the handy incantations you came up with to raise the dead this is the book you'll want to contain it.

I was not pleased whatsoever with this item. I mean, do you see the fattest branch in the middle? And that limp branch on the bottom right of the tree, hahhaha I laughed so hard when I saw that. All in all, it didn't look at all like the picture from the item nor the from the other customer who posted pictures. I like hers better than mine! I want THAT ONE! There is also cracks on it (last picture)....? Idk. The pages are great. If you use a gel pen it won't go on to the next page or behind. I got this for a girl who likes to sketch and it seems like it can also be used for drawing. I'm still not sure if I want to give it as a gift and my friend... We shall see.

I was looking for a nice blank book for journaling and this definitely fits the bill. It is handmade with an embossed cover, has handmade paper bound into quartos within it, and a respectable amount of sheets. The attached thong keeps the book securely closed, so anything tucked into the pages will stay put nicely. I write with fountain pen and the paper is a tad more absorbent than I would like, but the ink doesnae bleed all the way through the page. That said, there is significant ghosting. If you use ballpoint or gel pen this will not be a concern. The size is convenient for handholding or tucking into your bag for travel.

I would purchase this again. The only reason the book gets four stars rather than five is that it is described as leatherbound and the cover is actually embossed pleather and NOT actual leather. The embossing on mine is rather faint and is slightly double embossed on the back cover as if they hit the die, the faux leather shifted and then they hit the die again. As long as you understand that you will not be getting real leather you should be quite happy with this book. If you want truly premium embossing and thick cowhide leather go with Oberon leather but be prepared to pay for the premium craftsmanship and materials. If you are on a budget, this is perfect.

What is showing in the picture here and what I got are widely different in quality. I was expecting a nice book, with slightly thicker leather which as you can see in the image is stitched around the top, the embossing is nicely done with depth to it, and there is a robust color. What I got looks like a cheap knock off of this. There is no depth to the embossing and no stitching around the top. The leather feels extremely cheap and there is a weird lumpy pattern between the patterns around the oak tree that are not there in the picture. I feel like I was completely deceived and I would absolutely not buy this again and certainly would not use this seller.

When my new BOS showed up, I was thrilled. Some people said it's dry, mine was however, regular handling absorbs your natural oils and now it's fine. I would recommend this book, it's thicker than it looks and the parchment paper inside though unlined, is a really nice quality. Just a nice unique book. I love it!

I was disappointed with this book for the cost. The leather was extremely dry. The pages are really thick and will not hold much information not to mention this book is much smaller than I expected. This book will be good for decoration but is not very practical. I am still trying to soften the leather and condition it. It is not shiny like the picture portrays, it is a dull faded brittle leather.
