I have been visually disabled for the past 10 years because of a disease process. Reading has always been a passion of mine, and for most of the past 5 years I have not been able to read standard print: books, newspapers, product boxes, lots of things, without the aide of a magnifier. I have an older model reader that is quite large, and not comfortable to use for extended periods. I have also not been able to use my sewing machine. A neighbor suggested that I look for a pair of magnifying goggles, so perhaps I would be able to use the machine again, so I looked at what was available on Amazon, because the prices are usually very good, and returning items is a snap. I ordered the Carson Magnifier because I could still wear my glasses, plus there were 4 different magnifying lenses in a separate case.
For reasons I really can't quite explain, using this magnifier with the lowest power lens plus my regular glasses, allows me to read normal print again-everything I have looked at so far. The headgear is very comfortable to wear, plus the lens holder itself and the light are completely adjustable. The entire item appears to be well made, no flimsy plastic at all, and pieces fit together securely.
I recommend this item for anyone who needs to have more magnification and light but requires a hands free application.

I purchased this Carson magnifier since I have been very satisfied with these other Carson magnifying products:
Carson Optical Page Magnifier In 2 X Power
Carson MagniCard LED Lighted Credit Card Size Magnifier
Carson® CloseUp 7x18mm Close-Focus Monocular (CF-718)
Carson LumiPop 2x LED Pop Out Magnifier

This headband illuminated magnifier seems very well made for home and small business use.

The headband is made of plastic and the inner surface that goes against your head is very smooth. It seems very comfortable. I suppose if wearing it for a long period in a warm or hot environment it is possible you may sweat a bit on the forehead underneath the band. But that is just speculation. At normal room temperature it seems very comfortable.

It is highly adjustable. To adjust overall headband fit I suggest pressing and holding down the release button, loosening the band, putting it around your head, pulling the band tighter until comfortable, and letting go of the release button. Probably takes half the time it took to read that sentence.

Once the headband is adjusted, the angle of the visor is also adjustable.

I do a lot of detail work that requires clear vision: I'm a composer, so seeing the staff lines on music manuscript paper is critical. I also do a lot of paper crafts that require precision in cutting and layering different papers. Over the past couple of years, my vision has been deteriorating. A large part of that is due to cataracts (surgery is scheduled, but about 6 weeks away). Anyway, I was finding my day to day ability to perform even basic detail work was ... well ... not good. Even reading print on the computer -- even with zoom at 200% -- is nearly impossible.

A friend suggested getting the Donegan OptiVISOR Complete Kit, DA-S1, but I couldn't see springing for something that pricey that I may need for only a couple of months. I decided to try the Carson Pro Series MagniVisor, and I couldn't be happier.

This is making a HUGE difference in my ability to see and maneuver small bits (either notes on a staff or bits of paper). I use the lowest magnification lens with my computer to help me see the printing on the screen. The focal depth works perfectly. I use the other lenses for my detail paper crafts work.

You do need to be careful when you insert and remove the different lenses. There are clear instructions for how to do this -- just be gentle! You'll need 3 AAA batteries for the light. It's bright, and adjustable. And the unit is reasonably comfortable to wear, even for long hours. The strap adjusts easily, and it doesn't weigh very much, even with the batteries in the light.

This was money well spent. I feel like I have just gotten part of my life back.

It's a good concept, a visor- style magnifier with flip- down, interchangeable lenses in several convenient magnifications, with a head mounted light aimed at your work. The problems though are many: the headband is not very comfortable and does not stay securely in place, so when you lean over, the visor may fall off; the plastic lenses snap into the visor. The place where they attach is thinner than the rest of the lenses. The first time I removed one, it broke. Not only does the visor itself flip down but so does the lens. Unfortunately, the lens does not stay in place, it gets loose after a few minutes, and then it swings every time you move your head, this makes it useles, because it means the focal point of the lens keeps changing and you cannot bring your objective into focus. Thus, less than 10 minutes out of the box, my magnifier was not in any way useful in my work. I would have been better buying a set of 4 different magnifiers, one of each strength. I may salvage this by supergluing several of the moving parts, but it is defeating the original purpose.
