With fast shooting high mega pixel digital cameras, the CF card can be a major performance factor, especially now that many DSLR cameras include video capture. Why purchase a DSLR camera and use a slow CF card? I'd rather take advantage of a high performance CF card than become frustrated with shutter slowdowns and time consuming image transfers. Is the Lexar Professional 1000x CF card a good match for my Canon EOS 7D?

The Lexar Professional 1000x CF cards use UDMA 7 (Ultra Direct Mode Access 7) technology to read at 150 mb/sec, write at 145 mb/sec, and has a maximum transfer rate of up to 167MB/sec. These fast read/write speeds are desirable with large image files, especially when there are many. Plus cameras typically use buffer memory to hold images while writing to the card during continuous shots. At some point, if the card cannot write fast enough, the camera will stop shooting until the buffer clears enough room for more images.

Shooting L-Raw + L-jpg, I was able to take 84 consecutive shots before the camera buffer started filling up with the Lexar Professional 1000x CF card. Doing the same test on my older SanDisk Ultra II CF card, I was able to shoot 13 shots, Then on my SanDisk Ultra IV CF card, I was able to shoot 44 consecutive shots. The Lexar Professional 1000x CF card also supports shooting in VPG-20 for professional quality video.

Using this with the D800E. At purchase of the camera, I bought the 600x version, thinking that is all I need and would be fine with waiting for the upload on to the computer. I didn't think the difference would be significant, going by the numbers listed here:

Well, there was a special they ran for this 1000x and decided to just add more cards to my collection. The difference in read/write/upload/download is certainly noticible. This is the cream of the crop as far as CF cards. Love it and won't go back.

NO, not for this brand in particular just UDMA 7 minim for a Canon 5D Mark III.

After reading numerous user reviews on the Internet and Amazon I decided to not fool around with anything less than Lexar 1000x.

If you intend to dabble with time-lapse photography better get the largest cards and as many as you can afford to buy. This form of photography eats up card memory fast like a small child in a candy store with no control.

So far I have no complaints. Though 16GB isn't for time-lapse it is fast enough for my current projects. When I begin to dabble in time-lapse I'll be buying 128GB cards and a newer Macbook Pro and external HD. Renting all that I do not own. After all, when is the very next time you will be at that spot again? Sometimes the answer is never.

I have seen photos that friends took on once in a lifetime vacations. Many photos are not what they thought they were getting. Personally I have shot over 200 shots of something and found only 3 ideal photos. My understanding is that is a good ratio for the intermediate photographer I am.

Remember, no matter what you think you will need buy twice as large, then buy another card of like capacity for safety, two if your wallet card take the strain. Nothing worse than getting remote, a once in a lifetime shoot and having a card die for unknown reasons and you have no backup.

Use the cards for professional photography and HD video professional. I have used cards with canon 7D and canon camera 5DIII and I'm really happy.

Best performance and price justifies card when shooting in bursts and canned video recording speed steadily.

I am a beginner, but I have had other cards bog down during the writing process. This card really keep going without excessive slowing. I use it in my Canon 7D. I have four of these CF cards so far.

I bought these in hopes that they would be able to keep up with my D800. Though I will be honest I upgraded from the D60.... So anything would have infinitely faster than that body. These cards have no problem keeping up with long shutter speeds, Multi shots, film, you name it they are there for you. Not to mention I have been using them non stop for about a year with no degradation. Can't say enough about these cards!

My first big fast Lexar card was a 12x 128MB card. It cost me significantly more than this 1000x 32GB card did.

I like this new one. It's large and fast. I've had the best luck with Lexar cards over the years. For an equivalent rated speed they consistently test as being just a smidgen faster than the SANDisk cards.

Not much else to say. I'll probably have to buy more of them.

Excellent speed if you own any device that can take advantage of this premium UDMA 7 Card. You need to use an appropriate reader like Lexar usb3 or Hoodman usb3 AND go to the reader's manufacturer site and make sure you update the reader with the latest firmware. Test your reader before going on a shoot to make sure it works. Having UDMA 7 compact flash or sd cards means you may need to update to have 100% reliability. I have these in 16,32,,and 128 sizes and they work great. When I need top speed in Canon EOS 5D mark III I never install any SD card in the second slot since at present time the camera disables udma 7 in both slots when a card is in the SD slot. Hopefully Canon will fix this little glitch. These cards work great in Canon EOS 1D C with 4K video. I like Hoodman cards too since they make them as bullet proof as possible.
