We have 6 of these in operation right now, the oldest having just celebrated its 3rd year in operation. They are controlling everything from UVB day lights, basking lights, night heat bulbs to tank heating pads, and the mere thought of having to manual control all of those devices makes this well worth every penny.

There are two outlets on the timer, one for a day device, one for an evening device. If you have more than 2 lights on your tank, you will need more than one timer. The timer does not keep atomic time or satellite adjusted time, so be prepared to have to manually do something once in a while! I adjust all 6 timers once per month, but messing with a dozen lights and pads on a daily basis would be much more challenging to do at "precise" times. Ultimately, this thing is far more accurate and reliable than I am, doesn't require days off and doesn't periodically go out of town. Therefore, tweaking the time once every 30 days is a price I am most definitely willing to pay to make certain my pets are receiving more-accurate-than-me day and night cycles.

Setup of the timers can be a bit confusing, especially since the instructions are printed in exceptionally small font. I advise you read the directions a couple of times before messing around with all the little time buttons. I typically follow directions rather well, and my own impatience resulted in me setting the wrong time AND triggering the ons/offs at wrong times as well. Once you believe you have everything set, you can simply twist the time-set dial a full rotation to make sure lights come on and go off as expected. Don't forget to power on the devices you are going to control, otherwise they will not kick on when the timer tells them to!

Because one is for night and one is for day, this works the best for reptile owners.
This makes your life easier.

I use one for the heat pad (night), and one for the heat lamp (day).
I love this so much!

This plug blocked the whole outlet. Timer can only run one light at a time. I wanted heat lamp on all the time and day light to turn on and off. I'm still operating my lamps manually as this timer sits in the drawer.

This keeps our snake on a schedule without having to remember, or be home, at the same time each morning and night. Just what we expected

This does not keep the correct time. My aquarium light turns on slightly earlier every day, waking me up at 6 am every couple of weeks. I feel like keeping time is an important part of being a timer. Very disappointed.

I've found that the timer gets off by an hour or so after several weeks. Not a big deal, but you can't just set it and forget it.

The buttons also seem to switch states every once in a while. It seems that randomly a half hour period during the day will switch to the night mode. I pull the timer out and the button seems to have slipped from the day setting. Easy enough to reset, but annoying.

This time works great for my needs.

My wife and I set up a 10 gallon terrarium for three small hermit crabs. Our house gets pretty chilly, so we wanted to be able to keep heat lamps on for them all the time. We have a "day" bulb and a "night" bulb so that the light spectrum is covered.

We were manually switching the lights, but the problem with that was our work and sleep schedule isn't very consistent...so some days it would be "daylight" until 8 PM, other days only until 6 PM...likewise with the night lamp, sometimes we'd switch to daylight at 6 AM, other times nearly 10 AM.

This timer allows us to have the lights automatically switch themselves at exactly the same time every day. We've got them set for 7 AM and 7 PM, and it's been spot on to the minute ever since we got it.

It's nice peace of mind knowing that if we are going to have to work late, our crabs won't be stuck in the daylight until nearly midnight.

I believe that this product is well worth what it costs, and would recommend it to anyone looking to switch between two different lights.

Great if you don't want an exact timer.
For those of us though who would actually like to have the lights switch on and off at the correct times- do not buy this product.
I set a 12 hour day and night schedule for my hermit crabs. I set the night one to go on at 6pm. Slowly, the internal clock malfunctioned because the night light would turn on earlier and earlier. Eventually, my night light was going on at 6am while my day light came on at 6pm. Now I just use two night lamps so my animals won't get confused.
