This package comes with everything you need to effectively and quickly diagnose cabling/wifi issues. There is almost no learning curve. The functions are logical and it performs those functions well. I know there are several cheaper methods of measuring wi-fi APs, signal loss in cables, PoE and IPv4/IPv6 issues. But that usually means using multiple devices. Most times I can just take the one carrying case with the two devices and diagnose immediately. The included software for each is nice too for setting up custom DNS and ping targets, reading reports, listing authorized vs rogue APs.

I bought this over the IDEAL LanXplorer because of price. My only complaint is that the LanXplorer can handle packet capture and list heavy traffic users directly on the device. The current version of the LRAT software does not do that forcing me to carry around a separate TAP with laptop. Otherwise, this is a great product with a lot of extras. For the network professional looking for a sturdy diagnostic tool I would definitely recommend this.

Our company uses it every day. The link-runner is so much faster and better for testing actual connectivity than having to break-out a laptop each time. The AirCheck is awesome in all environments, but especially when we are working in a fully-meshed, WiFi environment, surrounded by up to 100's of WAPs, all running on the same SSID. This unit can target, connect with and test an individual WAP on multiple bands within a sea of similar units (also great for determining a DHCP problem, which most lay persons will interpret as a "wireless problem"). It is also fun for graphically showing our clients the effect of their employee-lunchroom microwave on the 2.4Ghz channels!

I work at a university doing all of the networking connections. About a month ago we "upgraded" to 3 of these units. When they work they are neat because they tell you exactly what switch and port you are in on a cisco switch. A month into owning the devices, 2 of the 3 stopped pulling ip addresses. All of the other functions work, like the length of the wire etc. It even shows data is being received from a switch but pulls no ip. We attached a packet sniffer to it and the problem was that it was never sending out a dhcp request even though it said it was. We contacted fluke and tried a bunch of trouble shooting with no luck. They said they never heard of it before and the devices we had were the first run. They also will not fix it but want to charge us more money for a replacement. Terrible customer service and product! Wait until they make a second revision that they will actually stand behind.
