I teach architectural drafting and I really like this pencil. First off, it feels great to hold as the body is all smooth plastic with no metal surfaces where your hands touch it. It has a decent weight, towards the light side, but not too light. There no pocket clip at the top. Most of all, it's 1.3mm. Until about 1 year ago, I didn't even know 1.3mm even existed. Because of the width of the lead, it creates beautiful bold, crisp line, just remember to hold at 90 degrees to the writing surface and keep the lead point flat. I will be recommending this one!

LOVE LOVE! I have a "thing" for all writing instruments....Japanese items are always thought out and well made. If you can't tell, this pencil has a grip texture to the entire pencil making it very comfortable as well as a very rounded triangular shape to it. Highly recommend!

Perfect for crossword puzzles, or on any soft or fragile paper.
Works especially well with Campus brand 2B (very soft) 1.3 mm leads, also available here on Amazon.
Triangular body is easy to grasp, and is coated in a comfy velvety rubber sleeve.
The whole point assembly retracts for easy pocket carry, so both the lead and the tip are inside the pen barrel.
No eraser; no problem, just pair it with a Pentel Clic Eraser - which itself is also perfect for crosswords.

The retractable tip is awesome. The mechanism is nice and tight (no play like some of my more expensive pieces). I occasionally miss having an eraser, but I usually have a proper one on hand anyway. Good habit to develop, I suppose.

My only real complaint is the weight. I prefer a heavier pencil, but the nice grip and relatively large, triangular shape make it worth the compromise.

Keep in mind that the soft lead included (2B?) does tend to smudge quite a bit with a lead this thick.

First off, please head the gripes from other reviewers that this mechanical pencil does NOT have an eraser. I did not notice that this pencil doesn't house an internal eraser when I ordered it. I, however, do not view it as a negative since I use other eraser pencils and such anyway.

I know I ordered a 0.9 mm lead mechanical pencil but this was not what I expected, in mostly good ways. The pencil lead at 0.9 mm will write thick dark lines that I desired on paper and it is extremely comfortable to me while doing so. The actual shape of the pencil (non-circular) makes it easier for me to grip and keep my writing steady. It feels sturdy enough to withstand keeping in my front pockets of any jeans, shorts, pants, etc.

My only complaint is that the Wine Red model is actually more of a pink/purple shade.. I'm a guy, and while I'm comfortable being seen using this shade because of how awesome it feels and writes, I really did want a dark red colored pencil.

I like the size and shape, but it has no eraser. There are other mechanical pencils for 1.3 lead that DO have erasers; I bought one of those to use instead. Because I like dark and soft 2B lead, the 1.3 thickness lets me press hard without breaking the lead.

Broke after 1 day. It wrote well, but after 3 hours of use, the pencil stopped writing and i couldn't get the pencil apart. I'm going to go try Office Depot and see what they can do to help me. It's not worth the trouble of me sending it back to you... Too time consuming.
