I needed to replace a safety valve that broke off inside the piping and this fit the bill. It's constructed much better than the Chinese made one that came with my compressor (on top of snapping in two, the nut portion rounded off using the appropriate sized wrench). My compressor went up to around 160psi once and this kicked in and bled off some air as it should (rated at 165psi +/- 3% which is roughly 160-170psi). It works as it should and I'm happy. The only knock would be on the pull ring. It would be nice if it were a solid piece and not something they pulled off a cheap key chain. It stretches a bit when you pull it and it can get a bit uncomfortable. This is being used on a Porter Cable 6 gallon so I open the drain valve and pull the ring to release the air faster.

My nearly new vertical compressor developed a week safety valve and was blowing off pressure at about 80psi instead of the 160+ that it started life with, it was not an adjustable part so we found this as a replacement ... fit perfectly, works better than the old one when bleeding off the pressure when shutting down for any extended time. the old one only had one exhaust hole and this one has 4 so the blow off is shorter in duration and nowhere near as loud, the spring is better on this one than on the OEM Craftsman unit.

Happy with purchase of item. This is used on small air cimpressors for a safety system. Should the pressure exceed set pressure of vsalve, item releases excess pressure in order to keep from blowing up air compressor.

Installed on a standalone 25 gallon air tank. Realized I was losing air and when I leak tested found the air was escaping from the pressure relief valve air vent holes. The plunger inside does not make a good seal and air escapes even with the pressure well below the 165psi rating. Disappointing.
