I've always had problems with folding chairs. Either they're too uncomfortable or I exceed the weight limit. Despite my larger frame, this chair is very comfortable and well-built. There are two major brands of quality director chairs - the Telescope and Gold Medal, both claiming to be the "original" chair. After much researching, I thought that the Telescope brand had better feedback from owners - but, honestly it was a tough decision between the two brands. It's built well - seriously sturdy. I've already ordered a custom printed replacement canvas set for it and it fit perfectly.

Always wanted the "on set" look in my office while writing screenplays, and planned on getting the taller Director's Chair, but before flopping down the bigger bucks for that, I thought this dining table height would be a good test for the quality, so I took a small chance, but only after checking the fundamentals. First, TCH has been in business and making these chairs since BEFORE movies had SOUND. Plus, they are completely MADE IN AMERICA. The wood is SOLID and also American; the material is American made and fits perfectly. And the chairs are completely assembled (labor) in America. These classic, comfortable, practical, AFFORDABLE, chairs, that cross generations of casual, outdoor and movie making tradition are top drawer, AND made in USA. Did I mention that I liked the chair, too? I love tradition, and I love simple things made to work. Very comfortable. Took 3 minutes to unpack and assemble, and everything fits great. The Director's Chair is next. Highly recommend, even if you're not a movie star or writing scripts. At least you'll feel like it.

Very pretty chair. I was surprised at how nice the paint finish was after reading the negative reviews. Chair had no drip. Actually, I purchased 5 chairs (3 with painted finishes). All three painted finishes were perfect with the exception of one chair that had a drip on one of the rails where the canvas attachs. I cannot be seen when the canvas is attached. Note: the canvas is sage green in color. Yes-as other reviewers said, you cannot completely push down the latch under the seat once the canvas is on, but it does not affect using the chairr. For the price paid (less than $27 which includes 2 day prime shipping) you cannot find a better quality product. Highly recommend seller and product.

The chairs function as expected and the hardware is nice. The problem is the craftsmanship. We ordered the walnut finish. The varnish was applied unevenly and there were many places where it pooled and dried on the ends of the arms and legs. . There was also a half drilled hole on the underside of one of the arms. Clearly they saved money by flipping it over and using the other side rather than discard the wood after their mistake. I don't think this company has any quality control.

Too much of a hassle to return. Don't buy these directors chairs

I absolutely love this chair! I ordered the 'Indigo with Walnut Frame' director's chair, and it is beautiful. The wood is stained a nice rich, deep brown, and the blue almost looks like a denim color. The height is standard chair height, and the quality is superb. I have brought it outside during all types of weather and it has held up just fine.

Putting it together is effortless. The structure is already in place, you just slide the fabric into the slots. It takes about 20 seconds. The chair looks professional and it is quite comfortable to sit in. I have had no difficult with folding and unfolding it as others have mentioned. My chair is in perfect condition. It's well constructed and made right here in America. I am very satisfied with my purchase and plan to order more for my next indie film!

Something bad has happened. This is not the same quality product that I bought five or six years ago. The fit, finish, hardware and canvas are not of the same high quality. I had difficulty opening and closing the chair and it was not as comfortable as the ones I've had for a while. I am therefore regretfully returning the 4 chairs I just bought.

I bought this as a gift for my granddaughter. I personalized it with her name. I rated it 4 stars because of two reasons. The first flaw .... the seat did not open completely. I am assuming it will in time. The second reason is the clear coating on the wood frame was globby. I did not have time to return since it was a Christmas gift. Overall I was pleased with this chair and my granddaughter loved it. I read lots of reviews and found the Telescope brand to be highly recommended. I too would recommend this chair even though it had some minor flaws.
