We put one application of the Copper sulfate into our fountain, about two teaspoons into a 50 + gallon fountain. It cleaned up the algae in about two hours. The water was cloudy for a couple of days, then cleared up. The water is a pale blue, which is actually kind of nice. The first application was a month ago, we have not had to repeat the process yet.

It works as a pool algaecide. I put in about a cup into my 15,000 gallon pool to get about 0.3 ppm of copper (no danger of staining below about 0.5ppm). That allows me to use a lower Chlorine concentration (in the normal range, about 2 ppm Chlorine with somewhat high CYA, or about 1 ppm Chlorine with 20 ppm CYA). It doesn't work quite as well as the copper/silver mineral pack I replaced with it (PoolRX), but it is a lot cheaper. Now that I know it works, I'll order 25 lbs next time for about 1/3/ the price per pound. I will look for an affordable silver ion source to supplement it. Silver ions kill bacteria. Copper ions kill algae. Chlorine ions kill both but is Chlorine is tied up (i.e., deactivated) in part by the CYA conditioner that is needed to help it withstand UV. With the copper ions fighting algae, there is more free Chlorine at a given concentration to fight bather-sourced bacteria. With silver ions added, even better.

These crystals are coarse so it takes a while to dissolve. We purchased this copper sulfate for some high school Chemistry experiments so we only used small amounts at a time. It took some stirring but it was worth the effort. At the time of my purchase, the price was less than 10 dlls for a whole pound which is great price.

Copper Sulfate is the main active ingredient in most root killing products you dump down your drain. This is the cheapest way to control roots on my old cast iron and clay pipes I have found to date.

I put 2 lbs down my sewer line once a year, at night when no one in the family is using the water. I have 100+ year old clay pipes with root infestation and this stuff kills the roots. I have also been told by plumbers it soaks into clay pipe, deters future problems, and that just a few applications should suffice pretty much forever, but given how cheap this is and how much damaged pipes cost to fix i do this yearly. Additionally, I use a 2 foot auger bit (you can buy ones that attach to a regular drill) and drilled 2 foot deep holes above my sewer pipe and dump a pound down each hole followed by some water. I do this every five feet along the length of my pipe until it reaches the street. The copper leeches into soil and deters growth around the area and provides even more protections. If you do this, you should not have roots in your pipes!

Also works great sprayed on roof shingles that have moss, and a fungicide you can spray in your garden to prevent blight. :) Really versatile!

Please Be Cautious While Using This Product!. Search the Internet for the correct dosage to use in your pond. This will kill invertebrates such as snails etc. using the correct dosage. It is totally safe for your fish unless they are consumed. Do your research. This is by far the best algae killer that has been used for years for commercial use in golf course ponds farm ponds etc. across the nation.

Was spending $25-$30 for bottled liquid copper algecide for years for my pool before switching. This is far more cost effective. Some undissolved will accumulate at bottom of jacuzzi in first couple days. Just sweep and or run pool longer.

Just what we needed. Two pounds of this stuff at any of the local stores is just too much for our needs. This one pound option is well packaged, resealable, and affordable. Great people to do business with.

This was my first purchase of copper sulfate. I used it for moss control and it did a good job. However, it takes forever for the crystals to dissolve in water, even though I used very hot, almost boiling, water. My next order will be for the copper sulfate powder.
