Directions

This shampoo has a scent redolent of BABY shampoo, and reminds me very much of that. My dog didn't complain when I showered him a little bit ago, and I tested a bit out on my face and let a little run in my eyes and found this shampoo to be mild indeed. Good stuff for sensitive puppies!

The smell is light, like I said, so I might have to wash my dog a bit more often with this than his more strongly-scented normal shampoo. It is very gentle on the skin though, so it's good for sensitive-skinned dogs like Dachshunds or young puppies. No complaints here. 5 stars.

I have 4 rescue dogs of various breed mixes and this is what I use on all of them. They are not puppies, in fact, one is 12 and one is 15.
But I want to make sure the shampoo I use for them is gentle. I used to use Johnson's Baby Shampoo, until my vet told me that dogs' skin has a different PH than humans, and it would be better to use a shampoo formulated specifically for dogs. It has a nice, light fragrance, it seems gentle, cleans well, and their fur is soft after the bath. Can't ask for more.

My kids are in charge of washing the dog. The first thing my daughter thought of when she smelled this shampoo is it reminds her of baby shampoo. Yes, it does! She immediately figured this is puppy shampoo -- baby dogs . . . it fits. Never mind that my dog is an adult. Age doesn't seem to matter. It cleaned the pooch, and she doesn't seem to be suffering from dry skin or itchiness, so it's mild enough for her. She also smells much better now, so the shampoo works. My daughter gives it five stars because "it smells good and it's just like human shampoo."

As other reviewers have said, this smells like Johnson's Baby Shampoo, and that is all to the good. It is a bit thicker coming out of the bottle than JB. It makes plenty of suds that washes cleanly. The bottle is dimpled like the best baby shampoos so it is easy to hold onto when wet, and is contoured to make it fit the hand, also. In my experience most dogs have sensitive skins, at least in places, at some point in their lives, even if it is not chronic. This is as good a product of a totally different kind as the Furminator comb, and that is high praise, indeed.

FURminator is expanding its line of pet grooming products, and this puppy shampoo is a nice addition.

I have a FURminator tool that is really good at making my longhaired dachshund a little neater. I know a lot of people say that the amount of undercoat is deceptive, and that it actually razors off the hair. No matter. It works.

So I expect this to be at the same level of effectiveness.

And, we recently got a puppy--when this came up in the queue, I had to order it.

The shampoo I use for my dogs is mild and I am confident that the ingredients are safe. Since this is marketed to puppies, and is supposedly a much gentler version of shampoos, all the better.

The list of ingredients didn't set off any alarm bells for me, and the scent is really nice. Our new puppy did NOT like his first bath, which he had right before we picked him up. Well, he does not object to this formula so far.

Dogs and puppies really don't need to be bathed all that often--once a month is fine, unless they roll around in something stinky. More often and you'll dry out the skin.

If this is safe for puppies, it's also fine to use with our older dog.

I might even try it ! If so, I will post an update.

Furminator deshedding shampoo works on my dog's skin and he sheds a lot less but he tends to get itchy skin and dandruff after using it. Also our whole bathroom gets covered in hair after it as it makes him shed a copious amount after his bath and a huge clean up is required. So I wanted to try this one as it contained oat protein and aloe vera recommended by his vet. It is also more tearless than some other shampoos as my dog is terribly afraid of baths and gets a lot of shampoo in his eyes even though we try to wash his head last.

He was getting pretty grimy lately, so this one ended up being more gentle on his skin although he is not a puppy. We gently massaged it in and it washed out easily and he seems to be less itchy. He really cooperated in the bath this time as he seemed to like this shampoo better. He is a large 65 lb dog, so if he tries to jump out of the tub it's impossible to keep him in there. So far he seems to be less dandruff prone than usual. Time will tell, as it takes a few baths to figure out if a shampoo is working. So far, so good.

Our English Bulldog is not a puppy any more, but bulldogs have notoriously sensitive skin so we are very careful when picking out a shampoo for him. We have been using Aveeno Baby Soothing Relief Cream Wash, 12 Ounce (Pack of 2) since he was a little puppy and been happy with it. He still smells a little "doggy" after his bath, but not once he is dry. This Furminator Puppy looked like a good quality product so I ordered it. My handsome boy (almost 2) got his first bath with the Furminator a few days ago and I am very happy with it. It makes less lather than my husband expected but still got our dog very clean. Not only is he clean, he has pretty much no scent (dog or shampoo) and is very, very soft. I have been checking his hairless armpits and leg pits for any signs of redness or irritation but have seen nothing. The price is comparable to the Aveeno human baby wash we have been using on him, so I would be willing to buy this again when it runs out.
