I was looking for something for my husband who has Lewy Body Dementia. He has not wandered, but I have read that 60% of people with dementia do wander. I love the fact that the watch can be locked onto his wrist so that he can't remove it. There is a special tool that you need to use that comes with the watch. I like the fact that if the alarm goes off showing that he has gone beyond the boundaries set, an email will be sent to you, alerting you. You then go to the website and enter your user name and password and will be able to see where your loved one is located. I have a smart phone, so even if I am out and not near my computer, I will be able to access the website. I also like the fact that the alarm does not get sent to emergency personal. If it is a true emergency, you will call them yourself. It saves you from having to call them if you are testing the watch or showing someone how it works. The watch also has a panic button on it so if the wearer is confused, they can press it and you will be alerted. The customer service is OUTSTANDING! Thanks Robin.

I have not been able to get the watch working just yet. I am not sure whether it's a defect with just the watch or user error that is preventing me from getting the watch to charge/power on and then pair with the base. I will say the customer service is outstanding and worth 5 stars. A representative is trying to help me troubleshoot the device and I even received a telephone call from a central office asking about my customer service experience. The gentleman was very personable and seemed to genuinely want to make sure I was good to go so thank you! I will make an update to this post once I get the device working.

***Update****
I wish I could give this watch zero stars for poor craftsmanship! After getting a replacement base in the mail (two prongs were depressed to a point where it would not charge my watch), the watch itself still did not work even after the base now said it was charged. Nothing appeared on the display. After sending in my watch for diagnosis, I am now told I have to pay more money to have it replaced on top of my original purchase price (see email below). Why would the company assume that I would a) not only wear a broken watch but submerge it in water and b) remove the screws? Second, how can you be certain that the watch wasn't broken in the first place when you sold me a broken base from the beginning? I want out of my contract because this was clearly a refurbished/poor quality product and now I'm out $95.95 for the watch and two months of monitoring for nothing, which is another $100!

Monitor works well. Only problem client was able to get watch off. Have to keep charging watch battery because client wanders so much the range alert drains the battery power.

First of all I have to say that I purchased the unit that I have for my mother from the Lok8u company. The cost was $150 from them and took 2 weeks to ship. Usually Amazon is much faster and I see the cost is cheaper. There are some glitches I think with the way the unit operates..It is not perfect and you do need to familiarize yourself throughly with how the unit operates. I found that printinging out the operating manual was helpful and doing some testing of the unit was also helpful. When I say glitches.. I mean that it does false alarm from time to time, but if you have someone who wanders someone should be in the same building with them at all times anyways. You should not rely solely on this device to keep track of someone. Also I have noticed that sometimes when the base unit alarms it may take up to 10 minutes for the text alert to come through to the phone. We've had the device since Sept 2013 and there have been only two times my mother wandered and I was able to track her sucessfully.. It took 15 min or so to locate her. Previous to having the device she wandered and was gone for 12 hours untill the local sheriff finally located her. So for this reason even if the unit is not flawless, it does work. One nice thing is you can text the watch for a location, this works very well. The battery needs to be charged once a week if you don't have a bunch of wandering icidents..more often if you do. Every time they are out of range this will drain the battery. Takes 2 hours to charge. I do not have a smart phone and thought about getting one but when I tried someone elses Iphone and tried to logged on to the website it did not work.. I have a lot of disatisfaction about the Lock8u website.Read more ›

So, if you're reading this, then you're probably desperate - desperate to keep your loved one safe, desperate to find a solution to whatever unfortunate problem you have. I read the reviews before purchasing this, but I was desperate to find a solution, so I gave this product a chance. It proved to be an extreme - and costly - disappointment.

This product might work for you IF you have daily/constant contact with the person being monitored for charging (every two days or so, in our experience) and to help get the watch on and off or IF you only need to be alerted if a person leaves a geofence. If this is you, the product might work. I would caution you to allow time to set the device up; after a few calls to customer service (who are extremely helpful), I had to return the product to have the handset replaced.

If you are a caregiver who does not live with your loved one, then your situation is similar to mine, and you might be out of luck with this product. I bought this product for my mom, who lives several hours away. My mom is in her 80s and likes to take walks. Since she has some memory loss issues, we were looking for a simple device that would alert us to when she left the house and let us know where she was. This seemed like the perfect solution. The problem? It didn't work.

Despite the T-mobile map showing that coverage was good to excellent, the product had a difficult time finding a signal (it took over an hour). Even when the device found a signal, any kind of actual location tracking that I tried to do by using the portal was inaccurate (I stood outside for a while, inside, by windows - I tried everything).Read more ›
