Modern-day glitter is generally made of sheets of synthetic film (plastic) that have been given an iridescent/metallic coating prior to it being processed into tiny pieces of glitter. The synthetic glitter is very sparkly and comes in different size particles and about any color you can imagine. Great stuff. However, I've always loved the look of the crushed glass glitter used in the early 1900s and for the hundreds of years before that. I remember some of the Christmas tree ornaments from my grandparents' early years and how the light reflected from them without them being too garishly "glittery." I still have a few of the old glittered ornaments to pass down to my kids. The synthetic glitter is still perfect for some projects; but this real crushed glass glitter makes certain projects just a little bit more special...particularly when you're looking for just a bit of reflective sparkle instead of the more extreme "in your face" type of glitz from the synthetic. This Fresh Green color is very nice; but my favorite glass glitters are some of the more neutral colors like champagne, bronze, and crystal. I sometimes mix the neutral-colored glass glitter with a bit of natural mica flakes. The glimmer and sparkle of the glass pieces are a nice combination with the softer translucency of the mica.

The crushed glass sticks easily to any high-quality adhesive. Or you can sprinkle it onto melted embossing powder of a coordinating color for an interesting effect. I'm in the process of making my own little glitter houses along with tiny sisal trees that I'm also making myself. Fingers crossed...we'll see how this turns out. Do be careful with handling your finished projects (and especially caution children) since it's possible to get a small cut from some of the sharper pieces.

This stuff is incredible. I used it to decorate some wooden letters for a project and it worked wonderful and looks incredible. Highly recommend it for projects as it is much prettier than regular glitter.

I bought this glitter in a few other colors, I really like working with it and it is super sparkly. I use it to add some bling to handmade jewelry that I make. I will continue to purchase this glass glitter.

This is a very tiny jar! Glitter looks nice on larger projects.
