This remote control is super easy to program, easy to use, and was crazy easy to program as a secondary controller in Vera Lite.

These notes are more about Vera than they are about the Minimote; however, a lot of Vera users who are looking for a good push-button remote to use as a secondary controller will need to know, it's not the Minimote that's difficult; it's Vera.

Pairing Minimote with Vera is easy. Just follow this thread...

Now, what you plan to do with it is entirely up to Vera. Yes, you can operate 8 scenes, not 4. With very basic programming & skill, you can control 4 scenes by having 1 button control ON and 1 button control OFF, or the same button with both short press & long press being ON/OFF respectively. However, with a little more skill, instead of associating a scene to a device, you can simply call a toggleSwitch() function. That way you can control both ON and OFF from the same button.

Works great once set up but the instructions were quite confusing. I currently have SmartThings setup so I just ignored all the confusing instructions and just paired it to SmartThings. Then I followed the SmartThings app to configure the 4 buttons which was much easier.

I'm using this with HomeSeer (HS3), and it works perfectly. You in effect get eight buttons -- for each button, HS3 can see the difference between a press and a "long" press.

I wish Aeon made a wall/hard-wired version of this puppy. Compared to, say, Cooper wall controllers, the minimotes "just work." Highly recommended.

Got it set up with a VeraEdge 'hub' as a scene remote (hint: add it as a generic device, and the controller configures it correctly). It's decently built.
I've been able to set up 8 functions without too much trouble.
One downside: it's hard to find in the dark, it's small and black. I've ordered a white one for the night stand, and this one goes to the living room.

This Minimote Remote Control does work, however the instructions that come with the unit are not very helpful. Trying to set up a wireless Z-Wave system, using Linear switches, was extremely difficult since the directions for both the Minimote and the Linear switches were not clear. While a connection wire comes with the Minimote, there is no indication as to how to recharge the unit or how to upgrade the unit. Fortunately, after numerous trial-and-error attempts, the systems was finally operational.

Using this with Smart Things, It make everything easy. I had one switch that was out of range of the Z wave system. This helped until I could get another closer to the one that wasn't working. I am buying a few more to keep around the house.
