Well, the good news is that the battery will actually hold a charge unlike the previous Eton crank radio I had. The bad news is that the radio tuner dial and to a lesser extent the volume knob are very, very cheaply made plastic that feel like they'll fall off if you aren't gentle. The tuner dial is very small and has no numbers on it except at the very ends of the spectrum, so it's quite difficult to find a station. And the reception is terrible - I bought the radio to listen to baseball games on a major FM station that is located in the same city I live in, and I can barely tune in the station. You have to hold the radio in just the right orientation to receive this station. I bought it at a brick-and-mortar store and emailed Eton to try to swap it for a digital tuner model, but the company doesn't do refunds on their products - I would have to return it at the store where I bought it.

I just got this radio, and I could not be more happy with it. Absolutely outstanding radio! The crank seems to hold power for a really long time. I winded it up for about 60 seconds to generate enough current to power the whole device. It takes it hours for that power to die off. The light is really bright. It is not really sturdy. I say this, meaning I would not recommend you drop this on concrete or any hard surface.

Pros: Cheap!, good amount of frequencies to receive form this guy, small ( some of you may prefer large, but for my needs, I prefer small), simple to use, long battery, and crank power life, glow in the dark feature, solar charging ( have not experimented with yet, but I hear it has this feature), bright light!, usb charger, and headphone jack for individual listening.

Cons: the material is plastic ( it will be fine to drop this on a smooth surface like carpet, wood or plastic, but not on concrete or any metallic surface), it does not pick up well with weather stations ( I don't know why, but I live in the middle of North Carolina, so maybe that's why I am not receiving signal) and the button for the light. Hell I don't think superman can turn that button on easily. You have to really press hard on the led button for it to light. The light is bright, but the button is too hard to press in my opinion.

Bottom line: yes the cons were long, but in description. There are more pros to this little radio than cons that I have. This is a must get for anybody! I don't care who you are, or what kind of person you are, this is a radio you must get. Great for hobbyests like myself, just radio listeners, and survival purposes. For 12 dollars, you would be foolish not to get this. So stop reading this review and buy it!

Rec'd on time. It works as described. Great price. I am pleased to have it given our lava flow concerns here in Pahoa on the Big Isle. I give it 4 stars because the instructions read: "Plug one end of the matching adapter cable (included) into the AC ..." Mine is missing the AC charging adapter cable. It did come with the USB charging cable.

This is a really good deal for $12.90. All 3 bands work as advertised, and the flashlight is usably bright. There are better and worse, and this one is in the middle, with some nice features, and a great price.

I love this! Yes, the tiny dial screen sucks, but that is only an issue if you want a specific station tuned in. Otherwise, this is a great beach or camping radio. If reception gets lousy, CHARGE THE RADIO. I was frustrated by losing reception and lots of static when I had previously been crystal clear at the same beach. The radio just made static farting sounds (to the great amusement of 10 year old boys), then I thought about the battery. I had not charged it since the last all day beach trip, so I spent less than five minutes cranking the handle, and voila!!! CRYSTAL CLEAR RECEPTION again. Sensilbly, I plugged that bad boy into a USB wall charger (uses the same chubby USB as the Garmin GPS) and refilled the battery when I got home.

The flashlight is good enough for campground trips to the bathroom or finding your tent. I would not rely on it for wilderness hiking.

The glow in the dark recharges from the flashlight (how logical) and seems to even pick up from a campfire.

Overall, since I am looking for cool tunes at the beach, not trying to tune in a specific station on the miniscule dial, this radio is perfect for me.

Very precise adjustments required to dial in a station. Also, if youre wondering, this does NOT have a usb charging option for your phone. I would recommend you drop the extra coin for that feature. The light is nothing to brag about

I needed a compact NOAA radio for my Grab and Go bag. This little gem fills the bill since it will remain in the kit unless actually needed. It has decent reception, picks up the NOAA channels plus regular radio, and has a flashlight feature, too. For the price you can certainly afford one for the car kit and one for the house.

This particular model does not have 'active alerts' - meaning it won't warn you if a NOAA alert is issued - you'd have to be listening. So your location and type of common disasters might determine if this radio would meet your needs. For example, if you live in a tornado zone you might want a more sophisticated model that has an auto-alert. If you live in a hurricane zone where warnings are issued several days in advance this model should be adequate. It would also make a great gift, too.
