I already had a pair of Trendnet powerline adapter's in use at my home. I needed to add access to another area and found that Amazon was selling this 4 port unit for less than a single port for some reason. Was simple to use. Just plugged it in and it picked up my existing signal. No pairing or reset needed. Having the multiple ports came in handy. These days everything can connect to the internet. The TV, DirecTV box, Blu-ray player, and stereo can all connect. I tested my Roku 3 player to see what would be faster. Using this Ethernet hookup was slightly faster than my wireless N network.

I have several Directiv units using these adapters to connect to the internet for downloading content. They are simple and effective. I have been using them about two months without any problems whatsoever. I had more trouble getting internet to my house than I've had getting throughout my house..

Follow up: With just under a year of use the single unit feeding the internet into the powerline failed and this 4 plug unit is losing connectivity more frequently. I cannot find a way of testing other than buy more units, replace, and see if that solves the problem. I like the idea behind these products but I am not sure how long they last.

The company says they have a 2 or 3 year warranty - good luck with that. I sent an email on the seeming failure of the single unit and so far have not had any response from Trendnet. I replaced that unit with a TP Link unit and the system started working again. We will see how that brand does.

After multiple attempts to synch, i resorted to reading the instruction manual... DOH! After I did what it said, I synched up immediately and all is well - I was running around 120Mbps. All four devices (BD Player, Apple TV, SMART TV and AV AMP) all work fine, and now I get no lag at all for Netflix or Amazon.

The only reason for the dropped star, is that I cannot get more than 120Mbps no matter what I try or which power sockets I plug into. However, the speed is more than enough for "normal" use and I get no lag or stuttering that I used to suffer when using WLAN, especially in cubby holes, or when the WLAN receiver was a long distance from the base station.

I have struggled with other solutions (wireless signal repeaters, strategically placed wireless access points) and this was the last attempt before crawling under the house and wiring rooms up to 100 feet away. Was a bit skeptical because of older home with several electrical subpanels between Point A and Point B. But the Trendnet was fabulous, couldn't be easier to set up, and worked (and has worked) flawlessly since installation. Very fast speeds ... streaming Netflix, access to home network computers and servers without difficulty.

Love Trendnet. The adapter just needs to be plugged into an outlet (directly - NOT into extension cable) and voila - you have wired internet. Superfast and works fantastic in all three levels of my 2600 sqft house. The adapter is on the highest level of my house and delivers superfast internet into all corners of my house.

Well i don't get it.

OK, so i'll start off by saying that the wiring in my house was done 10 yrs ago after we bought the house and renovated all walls, wiring pipes... etc. 4 story private house. 3 Panels 1 for basement, 1 for first floor and the last for second floor and attic.

Something else i did was to run home-run cat5e from my attic (where i keep all my network equipment) to first, second and attic floors. The attic is also my home office.

Anyway, recently, one of the home runs to the living room, where i keep a laptop, died... i've tried using only 2 pair, but the signal loss is just overwhelming. i'm thinking the cat5e cable must be breaking somewhere... no big deal, i'll use a wireless access point from my kitchen RJ45 outlet to connect my devices in the living room.

Then i see this baby and think to myself, oh-boy. Price is right. 500 Mbps is really fast, more than i need, my switch only supports 100/Full anyway so, i'm thinking, i can go back to wired on my laptop, media player, tv...

I also purchased 2x 402E - i figured, i'll put one of these in the attic and plug it into the router... then i'll put the 4-port in my living room and connect my home theater equipment... and i'll put the other 402E in the basement, where, at the time - i didn't even run one CAT5 line...

So i Connect the 402E in the attic to my CISCO Switch... but the PL light is steady RED... and i know that means it's good, but amber is better and Green is really what i'm hoping for. Anyway, i plug the 4-port in the livingroom and plug my laptop into it. disable the wireless adapter and re-enable the on-board.

Connection made - DHCP address obtained... i'm cooking with grease... right? No quite.

I live in a 4 unit town house that was cheaply made, with horrible cabling (tv coax) in it and extremely limited internet options. This device allowed me to remove network cables that I had running under my couch and living room rug (that I had to buy to cover the cables) so I could get internet to my DVR, Xbox, and media server computer. the bad part was that it frequently disconnected from my network (even though I set it up in the web interface) and connected to my neighbors powerline network, or my other neighbors powerline network... when it worked, I had a pretty good signal to everywhere but upstairs which was low or poor signal. I purchased three 1 port Trendnet powerline adapters to work with this one.

It appears that when you have more than two of these devices you do not get a "network" what you get is a round robin connection to multiple networks with the same (or apparently different) name. For 3-10 seconds the adapter will connect to each other adapter it finds and share data between them, this creates a "A to B" type network. When you add a third adapter, you get "A to B to C" connection for a little less than 10 seconds, then you get an "A to C to B" network for less than 10 seconds, then it goes back to "A to B to C" network type.

This is where it starts to go downhill, while a good concept, it begins to break down at this point. Because, sometimes your "B" adapter is connected to "A" instead of "C" at these times you get an "A to B to A" network and have no connection to your "C" adapter at all. This causes massive data packet dropping.

There is an even worse scenario than that... you might have "C" adapter connecting to "B" or it may be connecting to "A" instead. This causes the following "A to B to A" AND "C to A" network connections.
