I installed these on our bathroom cabinet doors, and like other reviewers, I found them a bit challenging to unlock in the intended way, but that's the point right? Then my kid just yanked on the doors really hard and it popped right open. I made sure the locks were totally engaged and got the camera rolling. You can see the results--useless.

I saw the mixed reviews and thought I'd chime in. I personally love these locks! Just bought more for all of my kitchen cabinets. I do agree that they are difficult to open at first, but just practice a couple of times to get the hang of it before you put it on the cabinet. I love these because there aren't any pieces to go missing like other locks and I didn't have to get out my drill. Each of the 2 sides stay on the knobs when it is open and simply snap back together to close.

One reviewer mentioned that the knobs have to be far apart, and its true that these work better for knobs further apart (most of mine are at least 6 1/2 inches apart), but I have one of these locks on my entertainment center doors and the knobs are less than 4 inches apart. You can still open the cabinet doors a fraction (they open about 1/2 inch), and if I open the doors first, it puts the lock at just the right angle to easily push the buttons to open. If I don't partially open the doors first I cannot get the lock off those particular doors.

Another reviewer mentioned to never open these locks infront of the babies, else they will be able to figure it out. I think that is good advice for any locking device you choose. I can't attest to the claim that toddlers can figure these locks out because my twins are only 14 months and don't have the finger strength to push both buttons even if they did figure out that's what needs to be done. I will update this review with their age when/if they do figure out the locks.

As far as the cute little girl in the video just pulling the doors open, I don't doubt her story, but that must be a faulty lock because mine are Impossible to pull open like that. I will update this review if this happens to me.

Summary: We use these to prevent our 1.5 year old from getting into our cupboards in our kitchen. Yes they do work for us but with considerable effort on our part.

Pros:
- They do lock cabinets, but note in my video we have knob handles on our doors. If you take a look at the other video review on here, you'll that the long, thin handles give too much slack and the cupboards can be ripped open (given enough momentum). Just note if you have knob handles, like we do, these locks will fit a lot tighter.
- Very good price. (some locks are extremely expensive at, say for example, Baby's R Us).

Cons:
- Big. Don't get these if you're trying to improve your home decor. (obviously your child's health is more important than home decor, but compared to other cabinet locks that rest inside the door, these are on the outside where people can see them.)
- Rather cumbersome to unlock (which is the obvious point) but even for most adults you will be annoyed.

Honestly in the long run you'll find yourself being so annoyed at how cumbersome these things are, you'll just leave your cabinets unlocked. So while effective for our personal home use, ultimately I would NOT suggest these for most people.

Remember, there is no perfect device that will keep your child safe. While any lock can deter for a few moments, given enough time your child will find a work-around. They're nature's hackers. With this in mind, seek to house-proof your child and not child-proof your house. (if that makes sense)

Hope this helps.

theyre simple to use and very sturdy, not the most attractive but theres nothing posh about babyproofing no matter how you do it. My only minor complaint is that when i first got them i thought they went on and you had to cut them off when you were done apparently there is a little lever inside that you can press to loosen it up so be sure to look for it before making the mistake i almost did.

I received a simliar product (Safety First Cabinet Flex-Lock 2-Pack) from someone.... older version of this I suppose? Went to store to get more and only saw these new ones? And I thought the old ones were hard to open... boy! You really have to press the green button HARD to open. Have to agree w/ other review. Keeps everyone out! If you have long nails, it really challenges you when trying to open. I suppose I don't want my child defeating the lock, but disappointed that it's so hard to open. But not much alternative if you don't want to drill or are worried about misplacing those magnetic keys.

These will keep your child from opening up the cabinets or fridge. The only problem is depending on how you secure them it may keep you from easily opening up the cabinets.

Pros: Works.

Cons: Works.

Summary: Works for the bang for the buck but are a bit tricky, would not recommend for those that don't have patience to open them when someone pulls the straps really tight.
