I downloaded this product and it does not function on my computer. I am running Windows 7 and although I can hear the game running (the music, narration, etc), the screen remains frozen the entire time. I tried rebooting my computer with no success. I used the trouble-shooting that comes with the software and it says that it is not compatible with my computer. So...it doesn't look like Windows 7 is acceptable even though it is listed that it is. No refunds on software downloads :(

I phoned Amazon and spoke with a very nice lady. She informed me that the software company does not have a contact number listed, but did direct me to a website where I could submit a trouble ticket. I did that. It says to not expect an answer for 48 hours, so we will see. The Amazon lady was nice enough to issue me a promotional certificate in the amount of the purchase, so I could try something else out for my kids. I appreciate that a ton.

So just be careful when you download this game if you have Windows 7 running on your computer. It seems to really want to run on XP.

We're sorry to hear you had problems with our product. We don't support the Reader Rabbit series through technical support anymore through tech support or phone calls.

These legacy titles only get support on our forums at http://forums.encoreusa.com

Also, have you tried the compatibility mode built into Windows 7?

Once I opened the software after installing it, it gave me a freeze on the screen which I supposed was a short animation clip of introduction. I ignored the frozen screen and kept clicking with the mouse. It brought me to a sign up page. I signed up and clicked start. It froze again. I again ignored it and clicked a few times. It bought me to a starting page of a game. Several animation clips in the software don't work with Window 7. I could play the games but because of the non-working clips, there was no introduction and that gave me a feel of disconnection. The game I played was a simple math game. It seems suitable for a 7 yo.

I bought this product for my gifted first grader. It's is not really challenging for her. The graphics are kind of cute. My daughter gets some amusement from playing this game. It's basically a review for her. However, if you have a child who is struggling in second grade, I think this is perfect. It would not be aggravating for a child who is trying to get some extra practice.

My daughter is a struggling reader so I wanted a program that would be fun and yet encourage her to read on her own. The program does the trick and she is happy doing it. That is all that matters since a child won't absorb teaching if they aren't open to learning and learning should be fun!

It was a cold fall evening and we were at the coast when my granddaughter asked, what is that rabbit thing on your computer and 3 hours later she was a happy little girl. It's really, really a great tool for helping kids with reading and arithmetic and some other interesting things like how is a bug put together with all the parts.
