I really like the Corsair "Quiet Edition"fans; I replaced all of the fans in my new Corsair Vengeance Series Military Green C70 Mid Tower Computer Case (CC-9011018-WW) with "Quiet Edition" fans.

You can find out all the technical details about Corsair fans at the Corsair website (Products, Cooling, Air Series Fans). There are two lines of fans: the "Performance Edition" fans and the "Quiet Edition" fans. As these names imply, the former have higher air flows while the later operate more quietly (at lower air flows).

There are two "Quiet Edition" models: the AF model and the SP model. The AF model is used when air flow is unrestricted (such as the exhaust fan at the back of the case); the SP model is used when air flow is restricted (such as air flow through drive bays or through a radiator/cooler).

The fans work as needed and move enough air for my needs without being audible to me. The colored rings are a nice touch, but unnecessary. The anti-vibration dampeners on the corners should be standard on ALL corsair fans. The cables for the fans are too short for reaching from the front intakes of a Corsair Vengeance C70 to the fan headers on my motherboard. I needed to purchase an additional extension cable to make it reach. The inclusion of extension cables would make this product 5-stars for me but not everyone will have the same issue.

Overall, these are very good fans. However, you have to be careful when mounting. The mounts on these, and on all Corsair fans, are all rubber. It's not a plastic shell that is covered by a rubber grommet. And unlike Noctua fans, there are no rubber "screws" that you can use in place of real screws. When I first went to screw in the fan, I started by forcing the screw in until it wouldn't go in any further. But the fan was still dangling and the screw was only half way in! I then realized I had to take it out and start all over. But there was so much friction that I ripped out the whole rubber mount. It turns out that the rubber mounts need to be threaded first before you screw them in.

You literally need to put the fan flat on a table and for each hole, screw in a screw by itself, slowly and carefully, until it goes all the way in. You are literally cutting into the rubber and creating the fitting for the screw by doing this.

Use a different screw for each hole as the friction will cause the screws to get very hot so you shouldn't use the same screw for all the holes.

You should do this process for each hole and on both sides.

When you are screwing, alternate turns. So don't keep screwing in the same direction. Screw to the right for 2 turns, then to the left for 2 turns. This will really give you a nice, easy path for the screws when you go to attach the fan to your case.

In all cases, both for threading the screws and actually attaching the fan to the case, you have to hold both sides of the rubber mounting with your thumb and index finger because the rubber is so strong, it will rip off if you don't hold it.

I have 2 of these in the front panel and they look badass with the ring. The blue is not a deep blue and will most likely not match your blue in your PC. I have a Gigabyte UD3H and it doesnt match that blue at all.

I purchased several of these fans for a computer build for Christmas 2012. I also purchased fans from several other manufacturers to try out. I wanted to see which fans were really quality and quiet. The Corsair Quiet Edition fans, both the AF and SP series, won. This review is written for both series.

The construction of the Corsair fans is very high quality. I could compare them side-by-side to other fans and they clearly were better.

The Amazon listings for the AF and SP series describe appropriate uses for the two different models, and give complete specifications, but I'll elaborate on the listings a bit here.

The AF series move a lot of air but need be installed where there will not be a lot of resistance to airflow. In such an installation the fans move a huge amount of air with essentially no noise, at the speed settings I used for the installation.

If you are moving air through a filter or in some other installation where you need more ability to overcome resistance to airflow then get the SP series. They move little less air than the AF series if airflow is not restricted but move far more air through say a filter. To my ears they again made no noise as installed as the system was assembled and configured.

The ultimate noise level will depend on how they are installed in a system and how fast they are run. My systems didn't require the absolute top speed for good cooling. I use a push-pull arrangement for cooling. Even at top speed they are very quiet.

If you don't know where you are going to employ the fans I would get the SP series since they work in all situations.

I not only used these Corsair fans in a new built but retrofitted an existing build as well. Clearly I would buy these fans again.
