If you don't like the kinda "amber" color of a "soft white" CFL then avoid any that are "2700K and look for "4100K" which is very white. The 23w to 26w CFL's are supposed to be about equivalent to a 100w incandesent but don't seem to be as bright to me. I like this 40w CFL "4100K" for removing the dinginess from my activity areas-and for reading. This is the largest CFL that will fit in my lamp harps, so don't go with a higher wattage for a table lamp as it will be too tall to fit.

NOT 2600 Lumens, no matter how long you let it warm up. Measured it with a light meter, and compared it against a 150 watt tungsten incandescent bulb. I'd say that this Satco S7334 40 watt bulb is closer to 2000 lumen output - a good third to half a stop less than the tungsten bulb.
Very disappointing, and misleading and dishonest labeling.

I paid $12 for it and after buying and trying at least 8 bulbs at varying prices I would not buy anything over $10 - $15 again as it is not worth it. This is a nice bright light for any artist. You can read more about bulbs in my recommendation summaries.

This is a rather LARGE bulb and I do like the 4100 but really need a bulb around 5000K and up. 2600 Lumens is enough light for a whole room.

I bought 8 of these bulbs. This bulb works fine at first but then after a few days (even two weeks) it starts flickering...the silver-metal conductor tip has a round burn mark on it - after only a few days! This has happened with 5 bulbs already in different light sockets. Also, I noticed several these brand new bulbs had nicks on the silver tip - when I took it out of the box! These bulbs are cheaply made. I wish the silver part was thicker so it would not burn so easily.

Follow up comment - I wrote to the company and they replaced 3 bulbs, at my request. The 3 new bulbs have no nick on the silver tip...so maybe I just got a bad batch originally.

The light bulb is extremely bright. I use it for painting. I replaced a 150w incandescent bulb (which was hot as the sun and could only be used in 20 minute intervals.) This bulb does get warm to the touch, but puts off no noticable heat. I'm not sure the color spectrum rating is exactly right, it's a bit blue, but it gets the job done.

Most home outlets are rated for 60 watt incandescent, so I feel OK using a 55-watt CFL as long as it is not enclosed. The results -- 250 watts equivalent brightness and the full blue white sunshine spectrum -- are wonderful. [I would not use this in the bedroom -- the blue (I've read) suppresses production of melatonin.]

I was on the hunt for quite CFLs (non-buzzing) for work lamps and found these are worse than most. I bought two bulbs: 2600L/5000k and 2600L/4100k. The 5000k had a distinct buzz from 5 feet away. This is "normal" bad for a CFL. However, the 4100k was near deafening. It was noticeable from even 20 feet away. So if the CFL buzz bothers you, stay away from these

Satco so far is lasting longer than Halco. These two brands are the only brands that I could find that produce 4200 lumens/65W. The Halco light bulbs worked for 3-4 months, and then died. This is still going strong.
