The spikes came in great condition, individually wrapped. The top of the spike unscrews revealing a bolt that can screw into the bottom of your speaker if applicable. In my case I purchased them for a pair of Mirage M5si that I inherited and didn't have the original spikes.

The bolt is very short and while it was long enough to fit on the speaker securely I wish it was a little longer like other spikes available. The biggest negative of the spikes is the included disc that goes underneath to protect your floors for people with non-carpet floors. Unlike other products that have a shallow "bowl" for the spikes to go into the Sewell spikes have a tiny hole in the center of the disc. This design is awful because you may get two of the discs arranged under the spikes but as soon as you move to the third of forth spike the others have popped out of there respective holes and are sliding across your floor. The holes need to be a little larger so that the spike can go in further and sit securely in the disc. If you are handy you may be able to drill out a larger hole, but Sewell really should redesign this to make the product better.

The kit contains enough spikes for two speakers, assuming four spikes per speaker. Each spike consists of multiple parts; the spike, a short threaded rod, a top piece, a base, a felt pad, and an adhesive pad. The simplest installation would consist of screwing the threaded rod into the threaded hole in the top of the spike. That will leave some of the threaded rod sticking out of the top of the spike, which is then screwed into threaded holes in the bottom of your speaker. There is an industry standard sized threaded hole for spikes. So if your speaker has threaded holes in the bottom it's likely the right size for this product.

If your speaker has no threaded holes, or if the holes are the wrong size (unlikely), then there is another way to attache these. With the threaded rod screwed into the spike, screw the top piece onto the portion of the threaded rod protruding from the top of the spike. Now you have a spike with a round, smooth, flat top. Then use the provided two-sided adhesive pads to adhere the spike top to your speaker bottom. Easy. The nearer to the corners of the underside of the speaker that you adhere the spikes, the more stable the speaker should be.

After you've installed the spikes to the speaker, gently position your speakers where they are supposed to be in your listening room. If you are concerned that spikes will mar your flooring, then slip one of the bases under each spike. And if you are concerned that even the smooth bottomed bases will mar your flooring, then you can attach the provided adhesive felt pads to the bottom of your bases.

Regardless of whether you used the bases or not, pads or not, it is likely that once positioned all four of the spikes will not press equally hard onto your floor.

These speaker spikes are an inexpensive way to lift your speakers off the floor, therefore improving the overall quality of the sound. The spikes come in 8 individual packets which come in a larger bag inside a small box. There are no instructions but it isn't difficult to figure out how to use them. Still those who have no knowledge of the spikes usage might have some questions.

Each spike comes with a double sided adhesive pad. You stick one side onto the bottom of your speaker. One in each corner, either next to the existing pad or in place of. Then the flat side of the spike perfectly fits the other side of the adhesive pad. Be careful setting the speaker down. You don't want to bend the spike or knock it off. I've had no problem with the spikes staying in place. If you have carpet, the spikes should penetrate the fiber into the pad.

If you have bare floors, each packet includes a second adhesive pad which should be attached to the floor where the spike sits into a small indentation on the disc. I'm not using this option but it seems a little too permanent and difficult to line up. Another complaint is that you generally want the front of the speaker to be slightly higher than the rear, especially on floor standing speakers. These spikes have a very small, hardly noticeable range of elevation. Maybe 1/8" and when used, isn't very stable. I just screwed them tight together.

I would recommend these spikes for people who plan on grounding their speakers into carpet. It will provide a bit more dynamic range for music and can provide some stability for them is well. Those with hard floors should look elsewhere or at least find a better floor protective disc to sit the spikes on.

Before purchasing, like many who've embraced the beauty that Amazon provides, I reviewed the Customer Reviews. Unfortunately, there are many buyers who are not using these for Mirage towers. Mirage, as many dedicated owners should know at this point, was bought, and is a part of a conglomerate that includes Klipsch and others. Politics aside, the Mirage Omni 550 (of which I am a proud owner of) does not seem supported by the company anymore...at least in regards to the feet that private sellers seem all too ready to misplace.

These Sewell Speaker Spikes fit the Omni 550s perfectly.

After listening to my 550s sit directly on the floor (on both carpeted and bare-wood) for the last four years, it is a relief to have them finally planted with feet. If you think there is no discernible difference between the two, I encourage you to put your MIrage towers up for sale--Used...and let me buy them from you.

The vocals and highs are far more crisp, and the bass is far more discrete. As if my recent purchase of the Marantz SR5004 wasn't enough, these feet have further encouraged me to put off a few more activities "until tomorrow" so that I can listen to my music more.

Message received?

Hope so...

Thus, if you are a Mirage speaker owner seeking feet, I encourage you to give these a try. To be clear, I was encouraged by another owner who left a review for a different Mirage tower (sorry, I didn't take note of the name) and i figured, "What the hey?"

Truly: Mission Accomplished!

P.S.-I intended to take pictures of the feet installed, but once I got everything set up, I just left it there.
