Important Information

Safety Warning
Do not allow children to play with collar.
Caution: Remove the collar before shampooing your cat and replace it after the cat's coat is dry. Do not use collar on cats with extensive skin lesions. Settledown™ pheromone collar is not a pharmaceutical product.
For animal use only.

Directions

Directions for use - Place collar around cat's neck, adjust to fit cat's neck comfortably. The collar must be worn loosely to allow for growth of the cat and to permit the collar to move about the neck. Generally, a properly fitted collar is one that when fastened, will snugly slide over the cat's head. Leave 2 or 3 inches for extra adjustment. Cut off the excess portion of the collar. The collar is designed to release powder when applied, which will activate the pheromones. When a fresh collar is stretched out it may show an excess of powder. This excess powder is primarily a carrier for the pheromones and not the pheromones themselves. This powder is not harmful to animals. We suggest applying the collar outside. Wash hands after placing collar on the cat. The effects of one collar last up to 30 days. Seal collar in plastic bag when not in use to prolong the effect.
Store at controlled room temperature 15-30 degrees C (59-86 degrees F).

This product worked well, or at least I think it did. I have a cat that likes to pretend our couches are litterboxes. It's great that my cat has an active imagination, but the cleanup is not fun. It had gotten to the point where we kept aluminum foil on our couches to keep her off. Luckily we have furniture that allows for relatively easy cleanup and cushion removal so we aren't left with pee-smelling couches. Bleach the cushion and wash the cover and we're all set. Still annoying. We had the cat checked out and she came back with a clean bill of health. She's always been a bit skittish and reserved, so we assumed it was nervousness and smells from the other two cats. We have since upgraded the number of litter boxes we have (4) and opened up escape routes and all seems to be good (and continue to keep couches covered, though I will be switching to something a little more asthetically pleasing than aluminum foil). She actually seemed calmer with the collar on. I don't know if she just liked wearing a collar or if it was the scent and pheromones, but I saw a positive change shortly after using the collar.

My only complaint, and the reason it's only 4-stars, is the fitting of the collar. It's annoying to get it down to a smaller size to fit her neck, and while bending it, the coating which contains the pheromones and scent cracks and peels and leaves residue everywhere. I actually felt bad for my cat because she was covered in the stuff while I was attaching it. If there was a less messy option, it would have been a 5-star product. Cheap enough that it's worth a try. This product, with other changes to the home, resulted in us being able to keep her instead of rehoming the cat.

I purchased this collar directly from my vet, and with high recommendations in hopes of providing some relief of anxiety for an upcoming 2000+ mile move. We are a military, newly married couple and will move frequently. As such, our first move as a family was very difficult on our fur baby. We were looking for alternatives for sedatives for our upcoming second move.

My 12 year old cat is already used to wearing a collar and she does not mind having it on, nor does she try to tamper with it. The vet assistant helped to attach this calming collar and away we went. Instantly, on the ride home from the vet, my cat did not make a peep, which was a first. She hates car rides and hates being restrained in her carrier even more and will not hesitate to vocalize her disdain. From that preview, my hopes were high for this product.

Over the course of the next three weeks, with the help of this collar, coupled with Comfort Zone /Feliway spray, my cat endured the packing up and moving out of our old place, a 2000 mile cross country road trip in a Uhaul, several hotel stays, and a new home. She endured this better than I could ever have hoped. For the trip, I did (with harness and leash) allow her out of her carrier, and after her initial fright of being in the uhaul, she resigned herself to the trip and comforably laid across a pillow on my lap for 95% of the trip. (Do this at your own risk, as if there is an accident, your pet will not be secured in the carrier.) She even used her covered litter box to tinkle, to the shock of my husband. Most of the time, cats will refuse the litter box while traveling.

I truly do believe that this collar along with the spray, helped my aging fur baby to adapt to and endure these huge, and stressful changes.

My cat is a talker at night and will cry for hours to keep me up thinking he needs to be fed.We had to put him on a diet because he was so fat. I bought this calming collar and what a difference in his behavior at night. The crying has stop at night. I never thought it would work. It does.

I have one cat this works amazing on, and another it does nothing for. I really think its like antidepressants, different ones work for different people.

The cat it works on is very volatile. She bites and scratches everyone, she growls when you pick her up, claws the furniture, and hisses at the other cats and dogs. This seems to calm her down. Suddenly, no more hissing and clawing at us. She still gets at the furniture, but not as much. Shes been on prescription antidepressants from the vet before and those didn't help at all.

Now the cat it doesn't work on is very friendly, but he pee's in our bed for some reason, and pees and poops next to the cat box, instead of in it. He's physically fine (per the vet), so we tried this. Its been on a week and nothing yet. With the other cat its almost instant change. If this doesn't work in another week this cat will probably be trying out the antidepressants from the vet.

I would suggest trying this before prescriptions, as long as your cat is physically healthy. (Sometimes the reason a cat does bad things is because it has an illness). This is a lot easier to do than pill a cat once or twice a day, and its less expensive than the prescriptions too.

I read the posted reviews before purchasing the collars. We have 3 cats; our oldest 15, was never a very friendly cat. After him wearing the collar about a week, I could see a difference in him! He came to us to be petted, ( and didn't snap at us when we did!). I think that the collars are defiantly worth a try!
