Indications
Complex indigestible sugars found in many plant products such as beans, cabbage, broccoli, onions, soy products, and others can ferment in your digestive system releasing gas in the form of flatulence. The enzyme in Bean-zyme breaks these sugars down into less complex sugars that the human body can digest, thus reducing or eliminating the intestinal gas formed. The enzyme is made from a safe food grade mold.

Ingredients
Alpha-galactosidase enzyme (from Aspergillus niger 300 GALU/dose), gelatin (capsule) rice flour, silica. FREE OF: sugar, salt, yeast, wheat, gluten, soy, milk, egg, preservatives. No nutritional value.

Directions
Per serving of problem food, swallow 2 capsules with first bite of warm or cool food. Store at room temperature or cooler

I've tried Beano, the Meijer store-brand version, and Gas-X Prevention. The Beano tablets don't seem to work very well for me and are quite expensive. The Meijer store-brand version hasn't been available for years, and Gas-X Prevention has been recalled by the manufacturer in Feb 2012.

Enter Bean-zyme. I discovered it only after searching for a replacement for Gas-X Prevention.

The Bean-zyme capsules are easy to swallow and quite effective. I'm prepared to say that Bean-zyme works better for me than all the others.

Bean-zyme allows me to load up on nutritious whole grains and beany foods without the gastric side effects which typically accompany same. I use Bean-zyme capsules every day and with more than half my meals.

I've found that I am able to eat spectacularly fiber-laden foods (like all-bran, Fiber-One, etc.) with no problems. This extremely high fiber diet had made me feel more full and diminished my desire to eat cookies and other things that I shouldn't be eating.

I like that you can get free shipping by buying five containers at once.

I really recommend this product.

This product is much cheaper than Beano. It works great. I used to be so careful about what I ate. I've been using this product for over 2 years. I am just as happy now as I was in the beginning. It helps with digestion as well as gas. I take as many as I feel is necessary. Usually 2 to 4, but I have taken 6 if I feel that the food might cause me extra trouble.

Can't say the same for Beano. Reading their list of ingredients is a fear-inducing, gut-wrenching experience for those suffering from IBS, IBD, Crohn's, Celiac disease, gluten sensitivity or other food/additive sensitivities and/or allergies.

This one? It's simply the right digestive enzyme without all the unnecessary junk. Been using it for three years or so with no problems whatever. Easier on the pocketbook, too!

My husband is a colon cancer survivor with a colostomy. He has no control over the release of gas from his system and this product is an affordable and safe way to get some control back. We will not run out of Bean-Zyme if we can help it! Without it he would be explaining himself far more frequently than he does now. This product works quite well.

Tried this product after paying too much too often for Beano. This tastes slightly better (they're both chalky) and is just as effective for me. Even helps with dairy product digestion.
I seem to have a pretty sensitive and reactive stomach, so if I know there's a spicy meal coming, I'll chew a few of these first and suffer no ill effects.
Great product and a good price if you get the 5 pack.

Addendum: Taste and chewing were in reference to the earlier release of this product in tablet form, which I have since discovered they no longer make due to the design of a now better formula that has no unnecessary additives (sweetener for one).
The current capsule form is small enough to swallow with food if you have no water.
Just as effective.

This is far less expensive than Beano, which, arguably, you can find conveniently in any drug store, but I trust Bean-zyme because since I've been taking it with my new vegan lifestyle, I've been able to eat and enjoy foods I could never before, such as avocados and broccoli (these foods previously, prior to Bean-zyme, gave me vicious, horrendous stomach pains). I'm grateful this product exists and is so inexpensive.
