This product shouldnt work. It looks kinda cheap and sketchy. And yet... it does. Its a god send for people who mosquitos love. It sorta cooks off the itchiness. It works better than alcohol or afterbite or calamine lotion. It really is the best product ive ever used for itch relief. I know your reading this review thinking its got to be some sort of a scam... but nope this is the real deal.

I was VERY skeptical...but the Gizmodo review made it worth a try. I am the kind of person that bugs bite when noone else knows bugs are even around. I get welts and they itch for days on end, no matter how I treat them. Brought it with me on a vacation in a tropical, rainy place featuring lots of biting insects. Therapik WORKS...within a couple of minutes of application, in fact. Some bites needed 2, and a couple of bad bites (or perhaps bites I'd waited a while to treat?) 3 applications. The welts went down, and the itch was gone, even days later. This device completely revolutionized my experience of my vacation. Friends who were with me tried it, and ordered it as well. And it hasn't run down the battery after 10 days and among us all, over a hundred uses.

I agree with the "why so much" reviews...what's with that, when the therapik website has it for sooo much less?

I bought this heat pen because I have "skeeter syndrome." I am buying a second one so I can give one to my grandson, who also has it. When we get bites, they swell up almost to the size of a softball. This pen has been great-- it has its limits, but works pretty well. Here's what I've learned over the last couple of summers: You need to have a fresh 9 volt battery after a month or so of heavy use. If it doesn't get warm enough to be uncomfortable after 20 seconds, change the battery. Hold it on until the bite becomes briefly intensely itchy (about 25 seconds) then it'll stop itching right away and be gone the next day. If the bite is somewhere right over a bone, it doesn't seem to work as well, and repeated heating may help. If you wait to treat the bite, the insect proteins will spread out in your skin and be much harder to heat. So: treat your bite right away, change the battery often, and bites on your elbows or scalp will take more than one heating cycle.

I've used a Therapik for about 2 weeks and it's amazing!!!Mosquitos, fire ants and bees are all attracted to me.I would itch and swell. Then I discovered the Therapik.Usually 30 seconds of applied heat from the Therapik takes the itch or sting away and the bite doesn't even swell. No messy creams that hardly work from now on.My Therapik goes with me whenever I'm outdoors from now on.

My daughter (age 9) is like a mosquito magnet so this device comes in handy. I taught her how to use it and she has no problems taking care of her bites. Some time she says she need to go over the bites again but no more that 2 treatments so far. We have had this product in use for about 3 months now.

I have tried everything. Bug repellants don't work...the mosquitoes just love me! My bites become about an inch in diameter, with redness extending beyond that. I just used this on 12 bites received on vacation. The bites remained small, and the itchiness was relieved. Yeah for Therapik!

I travel to Taiwan every summer where they are mosquitos everywhere. I have repellant spray. I have hydrocortisone. I have mosquito bite medicine. I have benedryl. I have it all, which works on the bites also - but are messier and take longer. Then I came across Therapik. It does work if you get to your bite quickly, and you haven't scratched your bite too much. I would use it on my bites 20-30 seconds at a time, rest couple of seconds in between and then repeat at least 4,5 times. This takes away the itch. The welt may still be there, but will quickly fade within an hour or so. If I have time, I will zap it a couple more times just for reassurance. However, my son gets bites that swell in HUGE welts. I really have to get to his bites RIGHT away, otherwise it won't work. If the bite welt is bigger than the size of a dime or so - I don't think it works as well. I don't think the light can cover the diameter of the the bite. So if you can get to a bite quickly - this is a great product! I have it in my purse all the time while I'm in Taiwan. I don't really mind the way it looks or that it's bulky. It beats all the other messy creams.

I bought this for my husband, who suffers terribly from mosquito bites since we moved back to my hometown in North Carolina. I suppose maybe he never experienced this species or these numbers in the midwest? Either way, his bites stay red and itchy far longer than mine do. He has had luck with heat treatment before, using our handheld shower head to "burn" the bites with very hot water, but that is not always convenient. This seemed like a better option to always have at hand. We have both used it a few times and it definitely works better on new bites. If you use it on bites that have been around a day or two, it takes a few treatments to quell the itching. Also, take note of the instructions to only leave it on for a max of 30 seconds. My husband misread and assumed "or as long as you can take it" meant to keep going past 30 seconds and ended up with a small heat blister. It is surprising that it takes a 9V which is one of those batteries you rarely have on hand. So I hope that it doesn't burn through them.
