My first encounter with these darling little treats was while watching Everyday Italian on the Food Network starring Giada De Laurentiis, my favorite chef of the past few years. She crumbled them into deserts, coffees, made pumpkin ravioli with it, baked amaretti apples and always praised their magical taste. Upon finally purchasing a box myself I was blown away by the hypnotic and addictive taste of marzipan in these little gems. These are supposed to be dry and cracked, the other reviewer must have been uninformed to what the cookies are in reality.

Amaretti Cookies are packed as a pair, wrapped in wax paper with Italian writing and insignias, praising its originality. They are two small crackling cookies per wrapper and they are a crunchy shell of delight. The taste is strangely addictive, after having a few I couldn't stop thinking about them! I have even purchased three more boxes two days after getting the first one. They taste like the holidays, spicy and lusciously laden with almonds and crispy sugary goodness with a tiny tang of bitterness of the almond. They flavor is royal and time stopping, on busy days, one bite of this cookie and I am transfixed into magical fields of luxurious old world taste that has been popular to Italians for years.

Incredibly aromatic crispy almond cookies that are a luscious addiction to coffee, tea or wine and are great for cooking and baking with. They really grew on me, I think I am an addict to their taste now, no wonder Giada is so smitten with them!

The first time I had these cookies, was 5 years ago on my vacation in Italy. Our tour bus stopped at one of the pit-stops and the cafeteria/store was offering tasting samples. I ate one and was instantly hooked on. I tried to look for these back in the USA but I didn't find anywhere near my place. When I found them at Amazon, I was very happy. Since then I buy one or two pound bags each year around Christmas time. Everyone in my household loves these cookies. It's a great buy!

The ultimate best cookies! Been around forever/ when we grew up, we never threw out the cookie paper because you use it to make a wish!?!? Fold the empty paper into a cylinder/ I put it on a saucer facing up.. All through this, make sure no water gets on the paper/ now stand the paper on a saucer if possible, in a draft free place.. You light the top of the paper cylinder / make a WISH and you'll see what happens/ if it hits your Ceiling, the wish comes true.. Now if you have 16 foot ceilings this may not work .. So never throw out these papers & most people don't know this trick

I use these biscuits to make my daughter's favorite amaretto cheescake. She is gluten free, and these biscuits are gluten free, almond and sugar, no flour. It is a big bag, and if I don't use the cookies for the crust, I eat them with a glass of red wine for dessert. So Fabulous!!!

Amaretti di Saronno cookies are one of those little pleasures in life that make it worth living. They have a crunchy, almondy taste, probably from the amaretto they are infused with. Yes, as noted in another review, they are supposed to be crunchy.

They are also the absolutely most perfect thing to eat while sipping expresso on a lazy afternoon on a patio overlooking -- well just about anywhere. There's a suggestion in the name that amaretti have something to do with love (they are packed in pairs). Your mileage may vary. But if you seat a loved one at the table with you while you're idling away the afternoon, who knows what may happen.

If you're looking for something like amaretto cupcakes, this ain't it. For more info, see [...]

These cookies are one of the few traditions I have from my childhood. We'd roll the paper and light it on fire. The paper is supposed to burn to ash, and then the ash floats to the roof. My kids were so excited to do this, but the paper doesn't burn the same way. It completely evaporated when you set it on fire leaving no ash and a whole lot of disappointment.

The biscuits are delicious though.

These are wrapped in paper rather than plastic which is important when using them to tell fortunes. You can GOOGLE for instructions and only the Lazzaroni paper seems to work. Even better, they are delicious. Buy your first ones in the tin and then order refills. They keep forever unless someone finds your stash first!
