Amazon or the seller need to fix this type of thing. The photo is wrong. I've hit a point where I'm so cautious about ordering that it takes extra time. You can't trust the pictures and in some cases you can't trust the descriptions.

In this case, the text is all correct. This has a single USB 3 port, a bunch of USB 2 ports, a gigabit ethernet connecter, and finally a 3.5" microphone jack and 3.5" speaker/headphone jack. For video, it has a DVI port and an RGB/VGA type connector as well as a single DisplayPort connector.

This is one of the best docks I've used (long career in IT). It has an easy but solid connection and it de-docks instantly and correctly. The laptop can be plugged in and removed from the dock without disrupting running programs.

The dock works great with T431s, T430s and X230. I haven't tried it with other models.

There is a power button on the dock, so if you have your laptop in and closed, you do not need to open it to turn it on.

I took one star off because it only has a single USB 3 port. That's sort of silly; it should have at least two, preferably four or all six as USB 3.

The included power adapter can also directly power a T430 or X230 (without using the dock), but it's physically larger than the one included with those machines. Of course, the dock will power any supported laptop once docked.

I did not remove stars for the advertising/photo issue.

The picture for the item is not the correct mini dock. I ordered the dock based upon the item having 2 DVI ports. What shipped is a dock with a single DVI port and VGA port. If you're looking for a two port DVI dock, this isn't it. While I received my refund and will reorder its the time and hassle associated with a false advertisement.

I have used this with Lenovo T410 and T420. No issues. I use it with 2 monitors, and a wireless keyboard and mouse. It is convenient to have this docking system to connect to the monitors and accessories. When first connecting to 2 monitors, it requires Monitor configuration changes on MS Windows to set this up properly, so it knows the position of each monitor and the laptop screen, that would allow the mouse to more from left to right ( or right to left) among the 3 screens intuitively and it also requires to configure which screen is the designated main screen when the laptop is docked. I did not know I had to set this up initially and thought the docking station was faulty ;-) After I set this up, it has worked as expected and no issues since.

This docking station is on the bulky side compared to the docking station model for the new Lenovo laptops, such as X1 Carbon, but it’s easy to use this big docking station, provided there is desktop space for it - I can just sit my laptop on this, and can work with 2 large monitors immediately when I come to my desk – no need to connect any cables. It works and meet my expectation for a docking system.

Using a T430S with standard battery and it is tricky lining up everything to get it into the dock. Maybe with the extended battery it would sit against the back wall but with out, it sort of sits in the middle of the dock. There is no edge or side panel to align with. It takes me less time to plug in the three cables to the laptop than it does to dock it.
The video out port is a full size displayport connector. I don't know why they do that when the laptop has a mini. So if you've been using a monitor connected to this port, you will have to get a new cable for using the dock.

Not quite as feature rich as the ThinkPad Mini Dock Plus that I have at work, but it was much more affordable and is a great solution that has USB 3.0 connectivity. If you've spent the money on a quality professional laptop, you should consider purchasing docking solutions for where you tend to use it the most.

I use this at home and have the Dock Plus at work so that it's effortless to move between locations and I don't have to constantly reconnect peripherals.

I've been using both docks awhile now and I wish I purchased them sooner.

There isn't a lot to be said about a docking station. This dock is tried & true--we have over 50 of them in our organization and never have issues. It can be a little hard to get the laptop in & out, but once you're used to it, it simply works. My only qualm is with the cost--it is simply too expensive for what you get compared to other docks. But, it does come with a spare power adapter, so that does help recoup that cost.
