Decent quality, but sized for smaller than average mics.

This mic clip (Stage Rocker Powered by Hamilton SR670C9A) is of decent 'aftermarket' quality, but is quite small. I'd suggest checking the size of the microphone you want to fit carefully!
I have a large selection of mics here, and a micrometer measuring tool. This clip is ideally sized for straight-shaft (non-tapered) mics with a shaft diameter of 21-22 mm. (.826 -.866 inches) This includes popular 'pencil' condenser mics similar to the Shure SM91, AKG C460, and similar models from Audio Technica, MXL, and many other pro and semi-pro pencil condensers. It wiill also work fine with straight-shaft dynamic mics of a similar diameter, such as Electro-Voice RE15 & Sennheiser E609.
This clip is too large for a slightly smaller 19mm/ .740" mic shaft. I don't have any mics with 23-24 mm shaft diameter, but I would estimate this to be the outside range of sizes that the clip will work for. The clip is slightly tapered, (which helps with insertion of the mic), so it would also work with skinny-shaft tapered mics that start at less than 22mm-- but tapered mics this skinny are NOT common.. It definitely will NOT work with Shure SM58, SM57, Sennheiser e-series vocal mics, or similar shaped mics-- it's too small, and forcing a larger mic into the clip would certainly break the clip, which probably corresponds to the large number of negative reviews about the clips breaking.
The clip shipped as of July 2014 is not quite the same as the picture on Amazon's site--similar in style, but definitely different & of somewhat lighter construction. The threaded portion that screws onto a mic stand is a brass (or similar) metal insert, so it should strip out like the plastic threads on many cheap clips.Read more ›

Too small to hold any normal microphone

This thing ended up being tiny, and my regular sized microphone wouldn't really fit in it. The quality otherwise is what you should expect for the price, which is to say: cheap. But unless you have a microphone with the dimensions of a cuban cigar, don't order this one.

Why did I buy this? I mean, literally, someone tell me why I bought this. It was cheap, junky, and not worth it. It’s already broken and you know what I did? Tried to put my microphone in it. And it broke. What a deal.

Breaks easily...

I had not had this out of the box but a few minutes and it broke. It is very brittle, so your microphone must be quite slender to fit into it.

Cheap

This clip only holds certain types of mics... none of which I myself own. It's very small and I stopped trying to pry it open to fit my mics because it felt like it would break.
