Directions
When introducing a new food begin with a mixture of “old and new” food, gradually increase the amount of new food over a 7 to 10 day period. For best results discard any uneaten portion and clean food dish before next feeding. Fresh water should be available at all times. The following feeding amounts can be used as a starting point for one bird. Adjust the portions to maintain proper weight and if additional birds are fed. Daily Feeding Amount: Parakeets and small hookbills - 1 to 3 Tbsp.

Over a year ago we went to a bird show and I got a sample of this food and when I opened it I thought "OMG, this food looks awesome!" The food was a combination of Budgie grains and seeds like millet, oat groats, chia, safflower, grass, and quinoa. It also had dried greens and pieces of millet, Timothy hay, alfalfa leaves and dried jasmine flowers. In addition to that it also has very small pellets so it is a very well rounded diet for my birds.

I loved what it looked like and what it smelled like and the fact it wasn't dyed green and yellow and red (why???). But most important my birds LOVED it from the get-go. They dug right in and nibbled everything up from the grass and dried bits, to the grains and seeds and even the pellets-which they didn't take to any other brand of straight pellets before. I supplement this with fresh produce and cooked grains, beans and pasta-but they love this stuff and I will not pay 2-3 times the price in the pet store.

The only con is that it comes in a 2 lb bag. I have 5 budgies and they go through it faster than I can get it shipped!

Superb product at great price. I am sure the quality holds true for all for all of this line, be it foraging or rain-forest. Thanks Kaytee for such a wonderful and healthy product and thanks Amazon for the wonderful prices!

I wanted something besides the cheapo seed from the store & this seemed just right. After a couple days my parakeets took to it. The first two bags I got were fine, but the quality seems to be going downhill. Seems kind of like they're foraging on the floor to fill this bag, all sorts of weird things in it. Maybe it's just me, but I've ordered new seed from a different company.

This seed is certainly better than most. It has no colored seed and the buds and hay give them something else to chew on. It also has a natural smell when you open up the bag instead. I was very happy with the seed for a while and so were the birds but they have suddenly started to turn their beaks up at this food and are not eating it like they used to. I can't say if it's the birds or because of some change in the mixture. Overall, it has the right types of seeds for budgies and it is a much better choice than a lot of other types.

My parakeets really enjoy this seed. Normally when I put a new seed in their bowl it takes them a while to get up the confidence to try it out. But they went after this one straight away. They really enjoy the bits of grass in it and digging through it to find the seed they want to eat. It keeps them entertained and seems to satisfy their dietary requirements. I mixed a bit of the moult supplement in there because the female was losing some feathers. But now both the male and female look healthy and have nice feathers again.

I haven't been able to find this in my local stores, so was happy to see Amazon selling it.

My parakeets just love this mixture. I alternate it with another Kaytee mix to keep a healthy variety in my birds' diet, but they do seem to prefer this mixture a tad. Really helps to keep my feathered friends extra healthy.
