Just got my new S3, and my MP3 player is dying. Time to try this whole "take your phone to the gym" thing! So I got this armband.
The main Pro is the price, it's quite cheap and looks about as well made as any of the armbands out there. That's the selling point and it works well enough that for 8 bucks, I won't whine. That said, now for the details and whining:
It seems to follow the design for most of their phones, but re-sized for the S3. It fits the phone snugly and has a hole in the top for you to plug in your headphones. The plastic cover works pretty well with the touch screen, most of my problems were from trying to use the phone bolted on my arm, not the cover. It didn't move around much. I got to the gym, listened to music & could even check the phone periodically. Mission accomplished.
Entitled whining: It has a hole on top, but the cover blocks the power button on the side! So you gotta mash the side of the armband and flail about until your phone turns on. Was a bummer for a couple days. BUUUUUT! I just found out this phone also turns on if you push the 'home' button, so it's really NOT a problem if you just use that button instead. Much more convenient that way; crisis averted! It's kinda hard to thread the armband while it's on your arm. Partly because the armband material doesn't stretch very much, and there's not a lot extra. I'm a dude, I do some strength training, I'm slightly chubby, my arm's not skinny; but I'm not THAT big and it barely has enough material to close. If you have guns, might need to find another case/extension. Oh, and since this phone is BIG, it's awkward having it hugging your arm through some movements & you'll need to shift it; that's Samsung's fault more than the case.
So overall: it does what's needed on the cheap, I like it and will probably buy this again if I break it. There might be a really sexy, brilliantly designed armband out there, but it'll cost $30 and won't be 3x better.
