In 1949, Mr. Kihachiro Onitsuka began his athletic footwear company (Onitsuka Co., Ltd.) by manufacturing basketball shoes out of his living room in Kobe, Japan. He chose the name ASICS for his company in 1977, based on a famous Latin phrase "Anima Sana In Corpore Sano," which, when translated, expresses the ancient ideal of "A Sound Mind in a Sound Body." Taking the acronym of this phrase, ASICS was founded on the belief that the best way to create a healthy and happy lifestyle is to promote total health and fitness.     I bought these for my boyfriend who runs sprints with me. They were the best price online. However, they DO NOT come with the spikes or spike tool. By the time you buy the spike and tool separate and go to a sporting goods store you might as well buy a shoe a tad bit more expensive that comes with all the spikes and tool. I have since purchased New Balance that are ready for use. I wear New Balance and love them.

    Really good racing spikes. Great fit and quality. Comfortable and light, best for 400m and 800m and even for cross country races as heel provides some support when compared with sprint track spikes. Not enough heel-strike support for training, though.
