This item works well for aerating wort. I have read other reviews that mention it failing to work after use. My recommendation is that you keep the air flow going after you're finished aerating wort (or any fluid other than H2O) and place it in a clean water/sterile bath (with the air still flowing) for a bit to ensure that you do not leave any wort or sticky fluid in the pores to subsequently dry in there and plug it up. I haven't has a problem yet.

Absolutely perfect for oxygenating wort prior to pitching. I use a standard oxygen tubing from a medical oxygen device and the barb fits just fine on it. I figure 1 liter per minute flow for one second per gravity point. e.g. 1.060 beer gets 1LPM for 60 seconds. Great tool to have. I use WAY less oxygen than the other method I had where I would fill the headspace and shake the carboy.
