Easy download and set up for an excellent piano course. Amazon keeps a copy of the download available in case you need to download again. Much better than any of the other piano lessons I have tried. Very much like having an instructor beside you while you play. It's interactive with my midi keyboard and shows my mistakes and scores my playing to give me the incentive to practice and play better. The music lessons take you one step at a time, and I set my own pace. I am 66 years old and have always wanted to learn music. The eMedia Piano & Keyboard Method v3 works great for me.

For Christmas 2012, I started as a complete novice to the piano, never having played and not able to read music. However, we bought a piano and no teacher lives in our town so I decided to try out a virtual teacher.

I bought and then immediately downloaded this app. That was easy to do. The app is set up so that there are lessons, then reviews of the lessons, and a continual build up of information based on previous lessons.

The app provides as much, if not more, hands on exercises as thought exercises [like reading notes and learning to read sheet music]. She is very clear that it's best if you keep playing the early tunes until you master them before moving on. It's important that you also purchase a midi cable that is compatible with your piano and your computer so that the app can track your playing, which is a very cool aspect of the app.

I didn't realize that the app could do that at first, so I didn't have the midi cable plugged in. Again, this is not recommended [by me] because the app tracks your music as you play it, and it turns the sheet music as you play, in later lessons.

In about 3 months, this app took me pretty far down the road in that I can now play simple tunes and I can read some basic sheet music. It also very much tries to ensure that you understand that posture, fingering, etc is important. So I definitely recommend it for these purposes.

In regards to the songs, I recognize that many of the tunes they include are no longer copy righted so many of the songs are very old fashioned. Some I really enjoyed and a few were just didn't work for me. Overall, I would say that the music selection is very workable and many of the songs are catchy and pleasure to learn and play- although definitely not all of them.Read more ›

Thank you eMedia for this product! After purchasing the kids starter pack for my daughter for christmas it rekindled my desire to learn the piano myself! So I bought a yamaha keyboard and this program. I knew nothing from the start and have powered through over 120 lessons in 10 days. With a midi cable I can track my progress and not go on until I've mastered the existing lesson and I move at my personal progress! Going somewhere and taking lessons every week isn't at all convenient but maybe later on when I'm better and need more guidance and advance if I like but for now, I just want to read and play sheet music. I don't desire to be a professional pianist. This is a wonderful product for beginners!
