This is a steal. Buy it, you won't regret it.

• The casing is very well made. No machining marks, nice polish and feel. No rattling. Extending and retracting is very smooth.
• The scribe is a nice addition. It is very sharp, and the cap screws in place nicely, thanks to its knurled surface.
• The pocket clip has the right amount of stiffness, and is very secure on the body. It is not removable though, from what I can tell.
• The magnet is curiously strong for its size. Don't overestimate it, though. It's for light duty, like keys, screws etc. Don't get carried away. If you need it for something else, buy one with a stronger magnet.

A tip for picking up heavier items, like a wrench: When picking it up, catch it with the magnet, and then position the magnet vertically to the ground, to reduce flex. Don't lift items as if it were a fishing rod, extended parallel to the ground. The shaft sections will bend if you keep abusing the tool.

Overall, an excellent purchase.

Great item to go in an IT Tech Bag. Well built magnet that is VERY strong for the size. Telescopes to a perfect length.

Other thoughts: I haven't used the scribe so I can't vouch for that. I didn't buy it for that.

Picks up most household small items (pens like, nails, screws, small tools like, jewelry, nuts and bolts, and such), the extension is very useful and helpful for those hard to reach places or high grounds. At this price, I bought 2 one for work and one for home. We have carpet in the office and this tool works great for picking up staples. I haven't had time to do any sewing but when I do, I'm sure this will work great for picking up loose pins and needles. Telescopes in to about the size of a pen so very convenient size. I don't know if I will ever have need for the scribe.

This Master Magnetics magnet pick-up tool was as described and was shipped/delivered quickly. The lifting force was more than I expected and worked well. The telescopic portion was also smooth and a necesity to get to those hard to reach places. This particular model incorporated a built in scribe with a metal cover to protect you from getting stabbed during magnet use. I liked this magnet pick-up tool and highly recommend it to everyone.
