Note: This review is specifically for this Cat food, sold by Amazon.com in a Pack of 48 pouches. Purchased in February of 2012.

We have an extremely picky cat with health issues who will eat nothing but Whiskas Seafood pouches (not even the other Whiskas pouches). We've purchased this food from a number of different sources but noticed that it cost 50-70% less on Amazon, so we ordered a large quantity. Right as we started feeding our cat the food purchased on Amazon, he suddenly started leaving large amounts of food (which we had to throw away) and losing weight rapidly. We did not initially associate this with the food, and assumed it was a health issue, but could find no evidence of any problem. It was as if the cat suddenly had gone off his food.

Fast forward three weeks or so: We've been feeding our cat Amazon's Whiskas, throwing away half of what he leaves in the bowl, and are still having no luck trying different types of food. Suddenly it occurs to me that his new 'health problem' started when we began giving him the Whiskas pouches from Amazon. So I examine the pouches, and here is what I find:

- The packaging is in every way identical.

- The consistency is much thinner. Where the gravy is thick and clings to the package in Whiskas pouches from Safeway/Petsmart/Petco, the gravy is watery in the Amazon version. This is best described as: The Amazon stuff immediately pours from the package, whereas the stuff from other stores has to be squeezed out and sticks to the side of the pouch.

- The expiration dates on Amazon's pouches differs from the date on Amazon's boxes. The expiration dates on Safeway/Petsmart/Petco boxes is consistent: the same on the pouch as on its box.Read more ›

My cats love this cat food. It is the next best thing to their natural food...you know, birds and mice and such. They line up for Whiskas every night. I have tried to substitute another brand of food but they won't have it.

Cats being cats, that is a huge difference in our house. The cat simply will not eat Tender Bites, we've tried in the past. I ordered a 4-box package of what Amazon described - and pictured - as Choice Cuts; however, what came was Tender Bites. Originally thinking this was just an error by the order picker, I accepted Amazon's offer to ship a replacement (because these are considered grocery items, I could not follow the normal return process). Imagine my surprise to receive a few days later another 4-pack of the Tender Bites.

At this point, I'm expecting a refund from Amazon; however, this is ridiculous. Be advised: the descriptions and pictures do not necessarily match what you will receive.

My husbands cat Circe, thinks this food is like candy.
Tries to talk my husband into giving it to her 3 times a day.

She gets dry food, and one can/packet for dinner each day.
It's been very interesting watching her really get into "talking"
which her breed is known for, but she hasn't really done much of
until now. She really likes this food and thinks she is deserving
of having it as often as she likes.

A lot of cats don't like chunky types of food, however, these Whiskas pouches have become my cat's favorite meal. For me, they are extremely easy - just tear open a pouch, fill her dish, discard the pouch. It was very easy to order them online, the price was comparable to regular store prices, and shipping was free and fast. Just keep in mind these are not smooth canned foods - these are big chunks in sauce. Make sure your cat likes them before ordering in bulk.

My vet recommended moist cat food after our cat had trouble with urinary tract infections, but I didn't like scooping wet food out of a can, especially when some of it was left over. I like being able to squeeze the Whiskas food right out of the pouch without having to touch it or use a utensil, and my cat absolutely loves it! Seems to have a good meat & vitamin content, which is good for appeasing those of us who also don't want to go to the trouble to concoct "real" food for our animals. The tuna variety is mixed with other meat, so it doesn't have a strong fishy smell but my cat still thinks it is great stuff.

Our cat loves this stuff more than any food I've seen any animal love. We give him this along with dry food.
He's very active - he follows my dog and I on 3 mile walks 4 nights a week so I guess this stuff gives him what he needs.

This package is enough to last about a month - great deal.

We ran out recently and reluctantly offered him tuna from a can as a substitute - he'd chowed on that before. He wouldn't touch it this time.

The description of this product is misleading. I thought I was buying a pack of 4 boxes, each containing 12 pouches. It says "pack of 4" in the description and with the regular price of $39.99 marked down to $7.49 I thought I was getting a great bargain. Instead, it is only one pack of 12 pouches, then add tax and shipping, it comes to $14.56. Nearly twice the price I pay in the local supermarket. Total ripoff!
