I installed this on my wine room door. It gives a great effect and also keeps the room off limits to the little ones. Installation took just a few minutes. The number pad lights up in a nice blue when a number is pressed.

This was exactly what I was looking for. It has the ability to store multiple codes for different people, and even includes "passage mode"- which disables automatic locking for when we have visitors. This lock was easy to set-up with new codes and install.

I bought this lock so I don't have to carry keys and also to allow access to people by giving them the access code. This door set seemed to fit the bill. It was easy to install, had comprehensive instructions, and allowed for 10 different key codes. All good.

The actual mechanism is a bit stiff so you need a little bit more strength to open the door. But, the major disappointment was that it ceased to work after a week. It seemed to me that there was a weak electrical connection somewhere and although the key pad still lit up, entering the code resulted in a weak bleating sound emanating from the mechanism but it would not unlock. Fresh batteries did not help, still no good.

So in the end, I had to break into my own home, dismantle the lock and wait for another one. I did not buy the same unit, instead bought one with a key over-ride. That to me seemed a better way to go. On the positive side, the Easy Amazon return policy meant that I was refunded and return shipping included.

My advice is to buy one of these with a manual key over-ride so if the electronic mechanism fails, you can always use a key.

Perfect for inside use. Combining this with a fingerprint/electromagnet lock on my house front door, I use these on the bedroom doors so that my tenants can enter the house and their rooms without using any keys. These work well, and they are loud enough that I can hear when tenants are entering their bedrooms upstairs. I'm on the first floor & they are on the 2nd floor. I like being able to hear them, but this could be a drawback for some people. They look great and rechargeable batteries that I put in them have lasted months so far. You do have to be careful how everything lines up. I was locked inside one room after finishing the installation and closing the door. The door would not open from the inside - no buttons - just turn the knob and nothing happens. I got out with a plastic card I had in my wallet & then went about troubleshooting. Turns out the latch won't move when you turn the door knob if it's pressing against something. I had to increase the hole size & move the strike plate until the latch could go into it without pressing against one side. This problem was caused by the settling of my over 100 year old house and I don't count it against this product.

My 4yr old and 2yr old loves to go in my office and seize control of everything. Ordered this lock. Arrived quickly. Im impressed at quality finish. It looks and feels sturdy. Installed it in no less than 30min (including reading instructions). Installation seems average. Got it installed and configured combination. It works! Now my little minions are taking a detour from the locked office and into the kitchen cabinets....to be continued.

UPDATE 4/30/14: The lock seemed to work fine for about a week...and now it seems to be getting difficult to open the door once I've inputted the correct master code. It would take me at most 3 tries (with the correct code) to get the door to open properly. Sorry but Im gonna have to return this for a refund.

I was pleasantly surprised with this lock. I needed something for a medium-security application and combined this with a latch cover and hinge/jamb protection and really long screws. The lock goes in super-easy, there a thoughtfully cut out access to the retaining screws that's covered with the batter cover/inside lever. Programming was easy, change the master, add your user codes, disable the 1 button pass-through and you're done. Stores a bunch of previous events somewhere. I used eneloop rechargeable aaa batteries (takes 4) and have a second set of 4 to swap with when needed. The manufacturer also thoughtfully supplies an external battery pack in case you lock out because you didn't replace the batteries and they're on the inside of the locked door. The problem is, that's where you need to open the lock to get to the batteries (and the socket for the emergency battery pack) so I really don't see the advantage or understand the logic but it looks nice, works as it should, latches closed nicely. Screws and hardware were a bit above average.

The good points:
1. If you are thinking about installing the gizmo yourself, your door is predrilled, and you have installed manual/key door lock(s) before, this one is even easier. It took me all of 30 mins to get it in place. If you have a spare pair of hands to help assist with the balancing, holding the parts in place, and to pick up the dropped screws - it will take you all of 15 minutes. 19 - tops. Tools needed: a philips screwdriver, a guiding toothpick (see below), and a latex glove.
2. If the above does not apply, but you still want to do the job, you have two options:
a. disassemble one of your installed knobs (train a camera on the adventure, or make notes what goes where), or
b. follow the provided instructions. I did take a peek at the latter. As far as these go, the instructions are well written. However, since I am unfamiliar with the locksmithing vernacular, but have installed/replaced all my locks, I decided to follow (#1) and, hey presto Modesto, it worked!
3. Don't make my mistake which added to the installation time: do NOT install the battery pack into the (inside/indoor) handle. This is the LAST step, to be done once the basic parts of the lock are installed into one unit.
3. When joining the two handles and the middle thing that goes into the door hole, it helps to have a long thin stick to guide and align the (3) holes (on each of the two sides) for the screws that make the assembled parts into a single unit. I used a toothpick-like stickette used for testing doneness of baked goodies: insert and align the holes along one side and leave it there. Inserting the screw into the other set of holes then becomes child's play.
4. The battery pack takes 4AAA batteries. If you expect heavy usage of gizmo, consider buying rechargeable batteries.
