YOU SPEND A LITTLE MONEY ONCE A YEAR ON CARTRIDGES AND A LITTLE EVERY 3-5 MONTHS ON GRANUALS AND CLEANER, A LITTLE TIME CLEANING THE MACHINE OUT (JUST GENERAL CLEANING-I'M A NEAT FREAK) MUCH BETTER THAN SCOOPING UP CAT POOP AND RINSING OUT CAT PEE. OH A TIP IF YOU HAVE A CAT GENIE, GET SOME LIQUID PLUMBER AND OXICLEAN. ONCE A YEAR USE THE LIQUID PLUMBER ON THE PLASTIC HOSE THAT LEADS TO THE DRAIN (IT WILL CLEAN OUT ANY CLUMPS OR CAT HAIR) AND ONCE A MONTH PUT A SCOOP OF OXICLEAN IN THE BOWL AND RUN A CLEAN CYCLE. IT WILL GET THAT SLUDGY STUFF OFF THE BOTTOM AND MAKE IT EASIER TO CLEAN AND KEEPS IT FROM GIVING YOU THE "BAKED POOP" SCENT YOU GET AFTER A MONTH.

Product probably works but it is supposed to be 4 runs. I only ever get 3 out of the cartridges. I can feel there is more in there but the Genie says it is empty. This has happened with a couple of these cartridges so it's consistent.

I know you need these to clean your cat genie, but I just keep having problem after problem with my cat genie and this did not help. The cartridge only worked for 2 cleanings. It was still very heavy and felt at least half full but my cat genie kept saying it was empty and refused to use the rest of the cartridge. I do not have any problems with the regular cartridges, just the maintenance one.

I previously purchased and used this product else where with satisfaction, BUT don't buy it here! I just received a cartridge sold by and shipped directly from Amazon LLC, and it was NOT a brand new Maintenance Cartridge as represented in the description - but a RECYCLED cartridge with who knows what inside. The first clue was the missing cellophane wrap, and upon closer inspection, I could see the old 120 washing solution label beneath the "Maintenance" label. Now, I wouldn't mind buying recycled cartridges - for a lower price - from a Trusted dealer who honestly markets them as recycled cartridges - but that is clearly not how they are represented here. I would not have purchased it here if I had known it was recycled as there is no way of knowing what it has been refilled with. Is it safe to use? Will it harm the felines? Will it harm the machine? Of course, I'll send it back and get a refund, but the deception makes me mad.

To add insult to injury, this is the third attempt to post my negative review to warn others as Amazon keeps rejecting it without clearly stating the reason why. (I know now that it was the euphemism for 'making me mad' that started with a "T" for those little parasites you can get in the woods that cause Lyme's disease, and ended with the word "off". Maybe I was raised by wolves, but I've never known that phrase to be profane.) Any how - Good day to all.

The recommendation to use this monthly might make sense for some, in our 2 cat house we use it between every cartridge change. Also remember that no amount of maintenance cartridge is going to clean up the hopper and related surfaces, so this is a good time to visually inspect and keep these areas cleaned. With the cat genie we love it but have had a few disasters -- all because we let "little problems" turn into big problems. The maintenance cartridge will go a long way in preventing this but so will some effort around the same time.

This cartridge makes cleaning the Cat Genie a no-work procedure. About once every three months just clean the Genie with this thing. It helps prevent issues that might/could ensue if the Genie is never cleaned.

I am so happy that I found this on Amazon. I have had the Cat Genie for several years now. I find that without this cartridge, the area with the CatGenie starts to smell. It fixed the clogged area and my CatGenie is now working the way it is supposed to.

We purchased this on amazon for the first time. The shipping said something around 3 weeks. We received it a couple days after I ordered. We will order our supplies through Amazon from no we on.

I didn't realize we were out of the cleaning cartridges, and needed to run a cleaning cycle or two. These are must he's in our book. Our cat genie runs so much smoother after we run a cleaning cycle.
