They ship in a plastic bag, loose and in bulk. I counted, and here's the numbers for the package I received:

79 - the total number. Not 80. 79. :P

8 - the number that were on in the bag when I received it. Dim, but on.

6 - the number that were complete duds

65 - the remaining ones that I could get to light up. About 5-6 of these are difficult to get lit - the switch is wonky - but I'm leaving them in the "working" pile since they'll work for my needs.

Now, just for fun:

18 clear, 14 red, 18 green, 15 blue.

The ones I got have rubber bands (instead of elastic) to hold them on your fingers. They're very very easy to pull off and difficult to get back on. These are even cheaper than ones like this I've had before - but for the price? 65 working lights for $10? Not a bad deal.

The red are much less bright than the clear/blue/green.

Also, about 8 loose "caps" - plastic rings that go over the LEDs. I'm not sure what they're for - they come off easily, don't block the light.... I'm not sure what it's supposed to do. So no big deal.

These are cheap, but perfect for what I need. As long as they last a couple of hours, that's all I need. I don't yet know how long they'll last.

I read all the reviews and decided to buy this "cheaper" brand. How disappointing, At least half of the lights were "turned on" and "DEAD". Wasted my money. I will go with the more expensive and be ensured of receiving them in working order.

Previous reviews of these finger lights were mixed, but there were more positive ones, so I took the risk of ordering a package. I must be one of the unlucky ones that got a bad batch because about half of the lights do not work. Since the plastic case of the lights are transparent, I can see what the problems are. The plastic molding is of poor quality. The small plastic slider for the switch and the case itself do not fit very well together, so half of the time the slider doesn't push the metal contact inside the light far enough to touch the LED lead. If the lights could easily pop apart they could be easily adjusted, but they seem to be glued shut. If you're willing to gamble, go ahead and order, but expect that you might get only half of them working.

We used these as prize incentives for a school fundraiser. The children were all very excited to receive them. They were all in working order and we were even able to sell them at our halloween dance. They are bright and colorful (with the exception of white which i feel is boring) Definitely a good product for its value. Would definitely buy again!

I purchased these as Halloween treats, however, these finger lights have become a huge hit with fans of my daughter's band; the band passes them out during breaks and the crowd loves them! These lights come with batteries installed, although a very small number of them didn't work when received. They can be opened, and once we adjusted the tiny battery, they worked just fine. I also like the On/Off switch, which helps to preserve the battery when not in use.

One note of caution: the finger bands are small, flexible and detach easily from the light; I would not recommend these for children 6 and under, as the bands can be easily swallowed.

Last year I purchased finger lights (same listing, different seller) to give as Halloween treats; they were a hit! Decided to order again this year. After the first three out of the box did not work I decided to check each toy. Over 40% of the finger lights (33 out of 80) did not function or were so dim that they barely produced any light. For the last 4yrs, I've ordered a batch of finger lights to give out for Halloween, and I have come to expect that a few lights might get stuck in the 'on' position while in transit, or maybe a few are just duds. I could understand maybe 5-10% (so like 4-8 duds out of a batch of 80), but my batch of 80 had 33 duds! (I went through and squeezed them to make sure they were clicked together tight, and inspected to see if it was just that the connection wasn't being made, and it needed a little twist, but there were 25 total duds in my first inspection, and 8 more duds popped up as I was trying to hand them out)

I've opened a few of them and the core issues seems to be corrosion. They might have been stored somewhere damp, or maybe moisture got in the bag (maybe some salty sea air on the boat ride!), but a bunch of them just have a crust over the contact points, so they can't get a good connection.
Hmm, I wonder how an electronics manufacturer could deal with unexpected moisture......OH YEAH, with a silica packet!!

They chose not to put a silica packet into the bag, so there is high moisture and battery corrosion, leading to lights that don't work, and children that cry and throw a fit because their lights don't work!!!
