I have been making guitars for about 5 years now, tele's, strat's and some unique stuff. My specialty is making guitars with a LP type body with a tele neck and any different types of pickups, very similar to a St. Blues type of guitar. I'm always looking for necks for my projects. After reading the specs on this I thought I would give it a try and I ordered 3 tele necks and 3 strat necks from TOMTOP. Yes, these necks are made in China but to be honest I don't care because this is a first rate piece of work. I like to think I'm smart with a dollar so I took a chance and it paid off. I like buying USA goods as much as the next guy but if you don't have several hundred dollars to spend for a neck and you are buying less expensive replacements chances are you're getting Chinese made anyway.
It is Canadian maple 1 piece with a seperate maple fret board. The wood grain is very nice. The neck has medium jumbo frets which are dressed nicely, no sharp edges what so ever. I was very impressed with the fret job. The finish on the necks have sealer applied so they can either be tinted, painted or stained. The finish is extremely smooth and the neck has a great feel. The craftmanship is excellent and you can not beat the price. It does come with what appears to be a plastic nut but I change those out for bone on all my guitars. The truss rod works very well, had no problem adjusting neck relief to my spec's. The tuner holes are predrilled for the new size tuners and have no mounting holes in them so you can use any type of tuner you like from Fender ( the many different styles ) to a Grover style, vintage, etc. There is no skunk stripe on these necks but that is ok with me. I do not like making guitars that are the same as everyone else's, I like being unique.

After reading the reviews, I figured, "why not give one a try?" Some people get beautiful flamed maple necks with perfect frets and others get nightmares. My experience was somewhere in the middle. The neck looked good and the fret ends were dressed but the nut was on crooked and a dozen frets needed to be leveled. The heel needed the edges filed to fit the neck slot and the bottom wasn't flat. After a lot of effort I got a decent but too-thick neck.

Update 11-2015: After a fret leveling as described by Ron Kirn on the TDPRI web site, a Graphtech nut and locking tuners, this is now one of my favorite necks. A nice thick neck is not necessarily a bad thing and desired by many. I would buy again, knowing that even the priciest replacement necks need a thorough setup.

I purchased a couple of these for projects. Both were very consistent.

As others have said, the heel is a bit wider than Fender spec. The actual width was about 56.5mm (vs 55.6mm for Fender).

The neck appears to have a light matte finish and is very smooth, however the fretboard appears to be unfinished.

The nut slots are high, but a nut job is to be expected.

Mine had a few visible sanding marks, especially by the truss rod opening. A couple frets needed to be leveled.

So expect to put a little work into this neck, but it's really hard to beat pricewise for what you get.

The headstock surfaces are not parallel, actually the headstock gets thicker towards the end non-linearly. The heel is a bit long. Overal for the price it is very good, I can fix the neck to my standards and still save time over starting from scratch.

I restore old guitars as a hobby. This is a very good neck. I had to sand on it for a while to get the perfect fit, but that is to be expected. The delivery time was amazingly fast. I had it in three days! All in all, I'd buy from them again.

I bought it to replace the neck on a fairly heavily modified Squier Affinity telecaster which was totally worn out. The neck fitted nicely, the heel required drilling prior to installation. The machine heads fit easily and snugly. Most of the frets were nicely dressed and even apart from their ends. I gently rubbed down the ends of the fret wire, which were all fairly sharp prior to installation. The truss rod was way too tight, even after installing strings (10 - 46 gauge) the neck was visibly bent and required me to open up the truss rod by at least 1 complete turn to get it somewhere near true. This is an iterative process as you have to adjust the truss rod, re-tension the neck from behind, bring the strings back up to pitch each time you make an adjustment. A couple of frets were slightly proud and causing fret buzz and required gentle rubbing down to get the action how I like it (about 2.5mm at the 12th fret). I had the old neck off and this one installed, rubbed down, trimmed and the action set up in about an hour. It feels pretty similar to the stock neck that was on there. I quite like the very light finish and will probably just leave it as is, maybe with a touch of oil.

From dealing with quite a few necks, these are not bad. They're also not 200$? So bearing that in mind here's some things to note.
Classic shape decent maple, good level fretboard (hard maple) 10 mm standard tuner holes to fit standard modern sealed tuners, assembly is good, frets are medium, seated well but a little harsh on edges (just need a polish/touch-up) satin finish, standard top access one way truss. Nut is plastic...(best to upgrade) but at least it has one. dot markers are flush nicely.
The base/pocket end on these is 2.2 mm which is just over 2-3/16" strat, just barely under on 2-14" not enough to shim. On 2-3/16" you'll have to sand a little, either body route or neck, but not much. Overall very pleased with these I've done 4-5 replacements with them all good.
Truss rods set at 0 tension so will need adjusting with string tension on it.
Pretty easy to get a tint if you desire, tru-oil whatnot, even heard of brown shoe polish...the wood is sealed but not lacquered etc. if you don't have a drill press (like me) check YouTube on how to drill neck holes as getting that right matters a lot.
