I would put these on-par with Z-wipes and notch or two above the bulk variety you can find at your local Costco. They did shed significantly less than the Costco variety upon initial use and after using all of the above, I would say that they do pick up dust and cat-fur better than the Z-wipes, and significantly better than the Costco version.

If I had to choose between these and the Zwipes, I'd go with the Zwipes variety pack as they have some purpose built microfibers that work exceptionally well on glass, drying, etc. For general purpose cleanup and/or dusting around the house, these are superior.

I've been using microfiber towels for years. They are absolutely the best way to wash and wax your car. Before discovering the Heininger towels, I used the "standard" yellow ones. They do a good job and aren't very expensive. When I got the Heininger towels, I expected them to be very similar to the pile of microfiber wipes that I own. I couldn't be more wrong. These towels are actually different!

I figured that microfiber is a commodity and that one brand is pretty much the same as another. This one isn't. The towels are noticeably thicker, softer, and more absorbent. One of these towels lasts as long as two of the others when I am drying the car. They wash clean on the permanent press washer cycle and dry on the "warm" setting on my electric dryer. At about $1.75 each, they are reasonably priced. Personally, I prefer the light colored towels that show any dirt picked up more easily. The dark ones tend to hide the dirt. A dirty towel can scratch your car's finish. Try these. They are absolutely great.

NEW INFORMATION 5/16/2013

Now that I have had these a while, some serious problems have emerged:
1. These towels are not very absorbent. I have a couple of dozen of the basic "yellow" microfiber cloths. They soak up the water! I tried these and they didn't drink very much. I washed them and they still don't begin to compare with their competition. It took a while to learn this due to the very rainy weather here.

2. They shrunk! The cloths started off being a nice size and very thick. After one wash they are now smaller than my old cloths.

As a result of these issued, I have removed some stars.

I bought the 20 pack of these for my husband to use in the garage. They came today, he brought me one to use in the kitchen. That was his mistake. Within the hour I had all twenty in the kitchen and he has all my dish clothes in the garage. I have many microfiber dish clothes, these are much thicker than those. I find I like the black color in the kitchen much more than I thought I would.

I bought these to polish up around the house, clean glass - in short, do many of the things I might do with paper towels. Alas, I found them lacking. These are almost trick cloths because, despite feeling like cloth, they seem incapable of absorbing water, which is one of the inherent qualities of most cloths.

Just about every time I use one of these I find myself pushing water around, but not picking it up. Trying to clean granite countertops with these is simply a losing battle. I've moved to cotton wash cloths or tea towels and find them FAR superior to these microfiber towels.

Even cleaning glass with a spray glass cleaner results in wet streaks across the glass when it should be wiping the cleaning fluid and streak-causing schmutz away with a single sweep.

Okay for washing the car with soap and water, but not for drying it.

They're equally inadequate for drying dishes, even if they were large enough to do so comfortably.

If there is a good use for these, I haven't found it yet.

As regular dust towels, I suppose these are okay and would merit a few stars. However, because of the manner in which these are being advertised, It's really not worth a single star. The claim: "Absorbs 7 times their weight in liquid" and "leaving no streaks...behind", is a total joke.

As others have mentioned, it's almost like they've been pre-treated with a water repellant. They don't absorb water well at all. I tried to use the towels on my car and it just pushed the water around. The same thing happened when I tried to remove some polishing compound...what a mess! If you've ever used facial tissues that are coated with lotion, then you have a good comparison of what these are like.

So, I'm back to using regular microfiber towels for my car and I'll just use these for dusting purposes only.

wow.. these are HORRIBLE. i thought maybe i got a bad batch, some were missing so amazon sent another package.. same trash. i swear ive used tons of different brands and these amaze me. its almost like they were treated with a water repellent because water or cleaner or anything sits on top of the towel and does not absorb AT ALL. if i could give a 0/5 i would.

These are not nearly as absorbent as the yellow microfiber shop towels that you can buy at Costco. They push liquid around on my kitchen counter. I purchased them on a lightning deal from Amazon since black does look better than the bright yellow, but they just don't work as well.
