I have 6 recessed ceiling cans in my office with standard flood lights. I bought one of these to test it out because one of my old CFLs burned out, and to see if I could tell the difference. I couldn't! You can't even tell it's a LED bulb and it puts out a ton of light... just like the others I've been using for years. And the 2700K is the same temperature as my old ones, so there literally is no difference. The other great thing about this bulb is that it distributes the light just like my other floods, and when looking at it (on or off) there's no way you can tell it's a LED bulb.

My light switch is a dimmer (Lutron MIR-600THW-WH 600-Watt Maestro IR Dimmer with Infrared Receiver, White) and it works great with this bulb. Instant on (another advantage of LED bulbs) and even at its dimmest mode, the bulb works great. The only thing I noticed is that when the switch is shutting off the light, this bulb flickers for about 1 second, which is not a big deal.

This bulb puts out more light and requires less power than anything equivalent. Compare prices with LED bulbs sold at your local hardware store, and you'll see that this is a steal :)

I was highly impressed by these, definitely worth the price. I see LED bulbs priced WAAAY higher than this on brick and mortar stores, but these were priced just right. Aside from that, you cannot even tell they are LED by looking at the light. They turn on instantly and the light is a warm glow just like a normal light bulb. I will definitely be using these to replace all my old flood lights as they start to fail.

The HitLights BR30 Dimmable 12 W bulb exceeded my expectations. Not only did it seem brighter than the 65W incandescent bulbs it replaced, it ran so much cooler than an 8W LED bulb. Apparently the larger metal heat sink in the BR30 allowed the heat to dissapate more quickly than the 8W LED bulb that had smaller fins.

The light output from this LED light was pleasing and the dimmable nature of the light was good. One characteristic of the LED lights is that they don't dim in the same way as an incandescent. An incandescent bulb will dim smoothly down to the point of a soft glow whereas these LED lights dim somewhat but then either abruptly go off or stay lit. Perhaps some of this is due to the particular dimmer switch in use, but on all the different dimmer switches I tried it on in my house, the result was as I described.

I compared this light to a 65W incandescent floodlight. The HitLight seemed to produce slightly more brightness than the incandescent bulb it replaced.

I think these are great bulbs. They run pretty cool (but the base still gets warm although not nearly as hot as an incandescent) and consume a fraction of the electricity as the bulbs they replaced. Over time they will save me a ton of money. a 5 year warranty is also reassuring.

I was provided a complimentary sample of this bulb for testing and review. I agreed to provide a fair and honest review. If you have any questions leave me a comment and I'll do my best to answer.

I bought 5 of these LED's to replace the FEIT BR30 65 watt incandescent bulbs. These are being used outside in recess lighting that light the front of my home and are on a dusk to dawn timer. They are brighter than the 65 watt bulbs they are replacing, but other than that you cannot tell the difference from a incandescent bulb. After doing the math I figure they will pay for themselves in little over a year. I cannot attest to their longevity as I just installed them so time will tell.

Update 11/05/13
I have now installed an additional 10 of these inside my home with a set of four on a dimmer switch. Even with a LED dimmer switch they do not dim as well as a incandescent bulb as they will only dim to about 20%-30% and then flicker on and off so you have to program your dimmer switch accordingly. I now have a total of 15 BR30 LED's installed and other than the dimming issue I have had no problems. I am very satisfied with the quality and performance overall so I would highly recommend HitLights LED bulbs.

Note: If dimming to a very low 5%-10% soft glow that you get with an incandescent bulb is very important, you might not want to switch to LED lighting in that area.

I always wait to review an LED light simply because the bulbs are a bit expensive to purchase compared to incandescent bulbs and I've purchased many that failed in months instead of the promised years of operation. This bulb has lasted for over a year since my purchase in Feb. 2015. Of course that's not close to the promise of 50,000 hours (or 20 years) but if it lasts that long I don't think a review is relevant by then. I'm not a fan of the price of a little over $13 per bulb but I am a fan of how these bulbs have been chipping away at my electric bill. My kitchen has 5 of these bulbs and all five equal the 65 watts of one incandescent of the same brightness. I hope they last the advertised, or even half of the advertised, lifetime. If so, I'll get back the investment.

I haven't had the bulb long enough to evaluate its life, none the less the color is good and I see no reason why the bulbs I purchased should not outlast "normal" lights. The white cap is made of plastic and, as the bulbs I purchased are for outside use, I found some water had settled in their lower areas (bulbs are pointed downward). I heated a small metal pick and put a weep hole in each, which solved the problem.
