This CD features 20 Halloween recordings from the Golden Records archives. Despite having 20 songs, it is a relatively short CD, because over half of the tracks are less than two minutes long, and ALL of them are under three minutes long. It is a fun Halloween CD that is appropriate for kids, even the youngest ones. The one thing I dislike is that there is no information included on who sings these songs or when they were recorded. Kids wouldn't care about that, but I do.

Fun Halloween songs for younger set. My 6 year old didn't think it was too scary, and she's a scary mary type. Some catchy songs on it.

When I was little my mom had a Halloween record that we loved and played over and over again. About 10 years ago someone borrowed the record and lost it. 1/2 of these songs are from that old record and I literally teared up when I heard them again.

I disagree with the poster who said the first two songs are too intense for some small tykes... my children are 2 and 4, and my nephew is 1, and all of them love the first two songs in particular (as did I when I was a child.) The first (Halloween Macabre) has some 'scary sounds' but the cheerfulness of the children singing how to spell Halloween taught me and my daughter how to spell Halloween, and the nice lady's voice makes it friendly not scary. The second song (The Pumpkin Tells) has a deep voiced pumpkin telling kids some of the things they can be for Halloween, and when I was a little kid we'd then dance around to his suggestions. My 2 year old LOVES this song, the low voice doesn't scare him and he loves the Fee-Fi-Fo-Fum portion especially. I found my 4 year old singing it to her dolls and then helping them be the skeleton, fairy, witch or whatever she imagined.

We listened to this all October and I really loved hearing my children singing songs that I used to love and sing to. They are innocent songs, and a story that emphasizes not judging a monster by their appearance.

My ONLY complaint is that the original record had the story of "Little Orphan Annie" and I was disappointed this didn't have the story. If you loved the original record, that's my only complaint. But if you are looking for a safe and friendly Halloween CD then this one is right up your alley!

I give a little warning first. The first two songs may be a little strong some of the littler tykes, but the rest of the cd is very child friendly from infant up to end of pre-school at least. Maybe longer if the child enjoys it.

My mom and preschool used to play this (on cassette!) every Halloween. I've had these songs rattling around in my head ever since. I think today's children would still enjoy acting out the songs at a party.
