I love gnomes. This is my first chia and I am soooo disappointed. The seeds wouldn't stay where they were supposed to and I ended up with a gnome with a furry crotch! Explain that to the grand kids!

The Chia Gnome was a perfect gift for my boyfriend. It is very easy to take care of and it sprouts in days. The only problem we had was when you mix the seeds with water, it tells you to mix way too much for the gnome. So we believe the instructions are for all of their chia products because the gnome doesn't have as much surface area as maybe the pig for example. You could probably get away with only mixing maybe half of what the directions say. Other than that, we love the gnome.

I wasn't sure exactly what to expect since I've never had a Chia 'pet' before but they have been around for years. I still need to experiment to see what will work the best but it only takes a few minutes to get it going again after you've done it once (initial soaking the gnome in water overnight). Because of the gnome's design it was a little difficult to get the seeds in some of the upper corners to get a "full beard." Also, because of interruptions to tending it and harvesting the finished sprouts, they developed mold before I could use them so I tossed them to try again. They sprouted and matured faster than I thought they would (and faster than what the box stated). You can probably get 3-4 harvests out of that starter bag if you are conservative, I wasted too many on the first try so I might get 2-3 harvests. It seems chia seeds are the "in" thing this year for nutritional purposes. If you have a green thumb you can probably do better - my thumb isn't but they still grew!

I laughed out loud when I found the Chia Gnome online. Just HAD to buy it for one of my friends who has an army of gnomies in his back yard. Figured he would cherish his indoor gnome when he unwrapped it! I was right! He had a big ol' grin on his face and a twinkle in his eye when he ripped the paper off the box.

Cute gnome, and we worked with it, but most of the seeds slipped down the beard before they could sprout, so it came in sparsely--maybe we made the seed mixture too watery? Some seeds did sprout, but the water we added in at the top leaked out through the porous body A LOT, so it had to stay in it's little tray. That had to be dumped every few days, then refilled. Now, a month later, the gnome is getting moldy. We were going to try it again with the additional seeds left from the packet--there were plenty of those, but will have to scrub the little guy first to get him cleaned up to try again.

This was an office hit! Who doesn't like gnomes or find gnomes funny/interesting! This was my first Chia Pet. Even though I've seen these on tv for ages, I finally got one! I think that everyone has seen these on TV but hasn't owned one. I really think this and the other chia pets would be a great gift.I gave the Chia Puppy and Chia Guy to my co-workers. They were also a hit.

FYI, I bought the NAVITAS NATURALS CHIA SEEDS from amazon before the chia pet because I heard they are healthy to eat. They look identical to the seeds in the chia pet! In other words, I think you can have an infinite number of plantings on the chia gnome. I haven't tried planting the Navitas Seeds yet. We'll see.

My daughter was really excited to received this. However, when we followed the directions exactly, there were bald spots on it when the Chia started to sprout. It was rather disappointing in the end, and ended up in the garbage after 3 weeks.
She is now trying to decide what her next Chia pet is going to be though, because it was fun watching it grow.

Let me just start by saying that the BF is obsessed with gnomes. You know how when you're dating someone for awhile, things start to come out? Well, I found this hidden gnome collection in our closet one day. I was like, "OMG THERES UNDERPANTS GNOMES IN HERE". But it wasn't the case. So after the BF got home, i asked him about it. He simply stated, "I love gnomes". To be the very supportive and awesome GF I am, I moved them all in to the living room and strategically placed them in areas that weren't Fung Shi. When the BF got home, he was thrilled to see his collection and then we watched The Walking Dead.

This wasn't the end though. I wanted to go one step further to prove my love to him and that i was okay with this Gnome Obsession so I took to Amazon like a dog takes to his treats. I came across this Chia Gnome!! Now we aren't allowed dogs in our house (we rent) and I thought what better way to show how much I love the BF then to get him his own pet Gnome he could cultivate and love!!! Man...you should have seen his face. Now every morning when we take our coffee at the table, the BF affectionately tends to his live Chia Gnome. I hear it's good to talk to live plants. Id recommend this to anyone who loves Gnomes. I have found my own love for them and as soon as we have a garden, we will fill it with potatoes and Gnomes. Xoxoxoxox
