i had some roof tiles that always came loose after a winter of snow and ice. we were constantly dealing with a small leak into our playroom. as my husband and i are not experienced at repairing roofs and as we didn't have the funds to hire someone, i went online to do some research. i found this product and went to the mfg website to obtain more info. it sounded like just what i needed. the section of our roof where i needed to use this product is shady and we use roof salt to keep the area clear of ice. I was concerned about how this product would react with the roof salt, sent an e-mail to the mfg and within a day found out the use of roof salt would not have any affect. so up to the roof i went. i applied it as directed and i am thrilled to say my leak is fixed. it has now been almost two years since i used it and it is still working! i would highly recommend this product to anyone who needs to secure loose roof tiles or in areas of your roof that abut your house. it was easy to apply and it works!

We have had a persistent, irritating roof leak for 5 years...a brand new home with a brand new roof. It was located in the valley formed where a dormer roof meets a main roof section. In the roofs first year the roofer came back several times to "fix" it and the patches he spread on never lasted very long. There is a storage area inside one of the dormers interior walls and this is where the water came in and dripped through to the dining room below. After giving up on the roofers ability to right the situation we had placed several containers to catch the worsening drips. He had given us a 4 years guarantee on his work but he quit responding to our phone calls after two years. We knew the leak involved the valley so decided to tackle it ourselves after three years of catching drips in pans. Hubby came home with a tube of Through the Roof sealant and filled an obvious crack in the roofer applied patch which coincided with a leak when we applied water from a hose to that area. We were hopeful! A heavy rain the next day showed no leak at first (happy dance!) but after several minutes it appeared in its usual spot but was considerably slower and less intense. We decided if the caulking version failed we'd buy a quart of Through the Roof brush on gel sealant and paint the entire length of the valley. We did this the next day and applied with a foam brush which went on like a dream. The quality of the product seemed superior as he applied it also. Took about 10 minutes to do a 12 foot long valley. The next four days we had heavy rains with small hail for about one hour each day and.......NOT ONE LEAK!!!!!!!!! Needless to say we are ecstatic and relieved that we can finally relax and enjoy a nice afternoon rainstorm.Read more ›

We have had a bay window in the kitchen than has leaked for 15 years. No one (including the original home builder) has been able to figure out how to fix it. We finally narrowed it down to the stucco at the top of the bump out. There were hairline cracks that were hard to see. I liberally applied a thick coat of Through The Roof and tested the leak after a few days. Its dry, no leak. Monsoon season this summer will be the ultimate test, but I'm 99% sure this stuff fixed it. Its very thick and gooey, almost like molasses, but perfectly clear. It did not need any mixing, and it stinks until it dries (a day or so). Because it is so thick, it did not drip. It stayed where I applied it and is invisible when it dries. This is great stuff, I am very pleased.

Update: 8 months later, after quite a few heavy showers, still no leaks. Yay!

It works so well, I have used it from a caulk tube as well as the brush on

This is sticky stuff from a tube. I used it to seal around the windows so it stuck to the molding(painted aluminum and vinyl) and the painted stucco. I also used it to seal the roof vents.

It is thick. I wore disposable vinyl gloves and used my gloved fingers to form the seals. It does not remain sticky on the surface after it dries so it does not attract contaminants.

It is paintable.

I bought more tubes.

This product works as advertised. It stopped my roof from leaking with just using a paint brush. It would of course had been more difficult to redo a portion of the roof, but I didn't know where the leak was coming from. I applied the sealer where I thought would be the most likely areas and to my amazement it worked and so far lasted through 3 heavy rain storms in 40 degree weather. No more bad leak in my den. It saved me considerable time and money.

Shopped Amazon to get the best deal on getting lots of this!! Our contractor really likes to use this when putting our composite shingles on our Geodesic dome. We are using Through the Roof product & Vulkem sealants. No leaks in our 3 yr old roof, so we are applying sealant to the new portion as well.
