This is a very well made "warmer" for dogs. HOWEVER, if you're going to use it in extreme cold weather on a non-shedding/hypoallergenic dog, I suggest putting on a thin/warm jacket underneath since these dogs only have one layer of hair and no oily undercoat to keep them warm in frigid weather. Jacket has adjustable tabs to fit your dog comfortably, and it's great to have a neck warmer and longer hock and chest covers to protect your pooch's muscles a bit from the elements. Would be great if it came in a thicker/fleece-lined jacket for our "non-shedders," but it's a great coverup nonetheless.

This product is exceptional! I have a 40 lb Standard Schnauzers. Size 18 fits perfectly. Temperatures have been in the teens with wind chill below zero. Because his body is so warm (we hike not just stand outside) his cropped ears even stay warm to the touch. This coat has adjustable elastic around the base of the dogs neck. The neck piece can also be pulled up over the dogs head if needed!
If I could change one thing, it would be to design the lag straps in a way that they wouldn't rub his testicles. Perhaps a thicker elastic strap with felt on it?

The best I ever had! Clearly all the faults of the winter dog jacket have been accounted for in this jacket. I wish this one was available earlier I would have ordered more! This jacket does a great job of keeping the dog completely covered without restraining movement. The material is the most heavy-duty I've found to date in a dog jacket.

Our doberman loves to go outside with this coat on. He helps us put it on too. We also have 2 German Shepherds, and when they're all together it gets rough, we also have barbed wire fences. This coat is warm, tough and comfortable. Please make it in another color, like hi-viz orange or a darker purple or a green. Thanks for doing an excellent job designing a dog coat.

I've owned other Hurtta jackets and all of them are high quality, but this one is by far my favorite winter jacket. Fits my dog perfectly, there measurement guide is spot on and the quality is top notch. Easy to take on and off and it covers my dogs chest which is important. I take him with me when I go horseback riding and the jacket stands up to the rigors of a dog running down trails or running through woods (prickers, limbs, etc).

Cleaning is also really easy, I just toss it in the washer and line dry.

If you are thinking of buying one, do it.

They were on the right track but missed the mark...This coat is nice and cozy warm and I was very excited about it as I carried it out to our dog. I could feel it warming my arm and I thought it would be perfect for our outside dog. However, as I began to put it on her I realized that there were several things wrong with it.
Firstly, the material is warm but feels fragile. I think it would work nicely if you are just turning your dog out from the house for short periods of time but our dog is outside all the time and needs something that can stand up to constant use.
Second, I noticed that the hind part of the jacket was held on the dog by these thin, flimsy elastic straps that are supposed to go around the dog's hind legs. These would never last and could pose a safety hazard. Without the straps back part of the coat would slide off to one side.
The third thing was that there are these rump flaps in the back that could have been a good idea if they didn't hang down almost to the ground (let me say that otherwise this coat was the correct size for our dog). If you didn't want the flaps they had a single snap that sort of got the bulk of the flap out of the way but really didn't improve the situation enough.
All in all I was disappointed, and ended up returning the coat. I think they have a good idea that needs some alterations. If you have an inside dog that just needs a warm coat when you are taking them for walks on leash then this could be just the right thing. If you need a harder wearing coat that will keep your dog warm during longer turn outs or 24/7 outside time then this coat likely isn't the one for you. I just don't think it would last and I was worried about our dog getting tangled in all the extra straps and flaps.

This coat is absolutely wonderful! I have a bone mouth Shar Pei who does not have an undercoat and has minimal fur on her belly. Last winter was so brutal on her that she physically couldn't go outside to relieve herself, even with two coats on. I was determined to find something that would cover her belly (within reason) and also cover most of the rest of her body. Outside of a snow suit this looked to be the best one around. I just got it a few days ago and put it on her. Fits like a glove. I didn't have to adjust a single thing on the entire coat minus just buttoning up the portions that would normally cover her butt. The only slight downside is putting the neck piece over her head. It's a little awkward at first but she got used to it after the 3rd or 4th time putting it on (treats are helpful). Its very easy to step into and clasp shut. It even has cords you can pull that can tighten the coat around the neck if needs be. So far she has been out in -10 weather with high winds and she was running around and playing like it wasn't even cold. And she has been in a significant rain storm (yaaay Michigan Fall!) and she was completely dry and warm to the touch. Make sure you measure your dog exactly how they show you because that is the exact size you will get. Color is also pretty much how it appears on here. You won't regret buying this coat!
