I looked around everywhere, read every review, and decided to "chance" it with this Cat Tree. I saw this exact same tree priced as high as $1200 online, and about $20 higher than Amazon if you bought on eBay.

The comments I had read that were alarming were that it was flimsy and impossible to put together. Both untrue!

There are three important things to do when assembling. 1.) lay out all of the pieces as they are shown on the instructions, and then label them with a post-it note or something for each group of pieces. 2.) When assembling, make sure that you look underneath the platforms and have the bottom holes aligned properly for attaching the ladders at the end! (I have one ladder not attached because of this...wasn't taking the entire thing apart just to have a ladder to the lowest level.) 3.) As you screw the scratching posts onto the various levels, make sure you screw them as tightly as possible. By the end, if they aren't screwed in all the way, the levels could be different and seem to be "flimsy" or wobbly. This would definitely be human error.

By doing all of the above, this 50 year old Mom with no carpentry ability at all was able to assemble in one hour and 20 minutes. Yes, I timed it. We did not have one leftover piece, it looks great, is solid, and the cat loves it!

Pros:

* very tall
* cats seem to be enjoying the enclosures
* lots of climbable rope sections

Cons:

* Connection to ceiling is wobbly
* Adjusting height is tedious and grinds textured ceiling.
* Very narrow
* Cat baskets or hammocks lack steps for entry. Haven't attracted cats.
* Ladders are situated UNDER enclosures, so they're not very climbable.
* Each round box is just two platforms with fabric stretched between, feels cheap.

Excellent quality. Easy & quick to assemble.
Cost less than the simple, ugly stands in the pet stores these days.
It's pretty stable without the ceiling anchor but...safety first.
I have a couple of highly active 1 year olds that had it rocking but never knocked it over.
If you have high or vaulter ceilings, check the measurements.

I also love the fabric. It doesnt look like someone found some carpet scraps & wrapped them around a post screwed to a piece of particleboard.

The product is relatively easy to assemble but I didn't expect it to have such small landing areas for the cats to play on. With the top and middle ladders in place, my 10 and 12 lb cat could not navigate around the tower and I had to remove them. The top pressure anchor to the ceiling is needed as the whole tower will shake just from my 10 lb cat moving on the top levels. All in all I am satisfied with the purchase, but I would have preferred to have a recommended cat size in the description to work with.

Update 6 months later:
The top most hanging cat bed that is only supported by at the bottom has already broke from the weight of my 10 lb cat. My cat slept in that bed every day, and as any cat owner knows, when a cat gets comfortable with a sleeping spot, they are not happy when they have to change. The manufacture provides a 30 day warranty and will not replace the broken part without charging for it. The manufacture's website specifically states “FREE Shipping on ALL Orders, No Minimum Purchase!”, so you would assume replacement parts would also be covered by this. Nope, they want to charge $10 each for the part and $8.71 for shipping and handling. I was able to beet them down to remove the shipping and handling by purchasing 2 of the same part so I would have a spare. Buyer-beware. This is a crooked company with no regard for customer service.

I loved this when I bought it. It looked great. It was tall with 3 condos and 3 cups and tall. However, we have had this for awhile now. It doesn't hold up. I have had to add to the base to make it larger as it was always wobbly. None of my cats are smaller than 11 pounds and I have never seen more than one cat on it at any given time. All my other trees usually. It is very narrow. Another reviewer stated that it is not wobbly if constructed correctly. I have constructed 4 of these. I know what I am doing. The base is too small to support a 108 inch height safely. Basic physics. The base should be twice the size. I think that it would be more stable as well if the condos had actual walls rather than fabric stretched around it. Would have given more stability. All in all, I wish I had returned it 30 days after I had gotten it. It does not hold up and I am not comfortable with my cats on it anymore.

Great price. A bit of work to put together but the directions were easy to follow. I'm a 5ft 113 lb woman and put this together by myself, with ease. Then again, I put all our furniture together that we buy, by myself. It's just something I enjoy doing...creating.

Anyway, this is a great buy and the price was good too. It's of good quality and sturdy. It is tall and my cats love the little caves, nests and all the scratching posts. I have this in my garage and it's mounted to the wall to keep it from tipping over, if my cats get too crazy.

You won't regret this purchase.
