We used these to celebrate a Thai New Year at our local Thai restaurant. We were able to light and send aloft over 50 lanterns in the parking lot in front of the restaurant. Everyone loved them and all are looking forward to another celebration next year to do the same thing on a larger scale. These lanterns are quite large and could be seen from quite a distance away. We did get permission from the local police, the fire department, and the small executive airport near the event although none said it was necessary.

These lanterns are extremely flimsy, a few tore just as we were getting them out of their packaging and have to be assembled by placing the fuel pack in a very poorly constructed wire frame. When you light them the fuel packs drip and burned more than a few hands! We've done sky lantern launches before and the ones we've previously purchased were of a much higher quality, they filled up with hot air and rose straight up in the air (important to insure safety) much quicker than these. I would never purchase these again and would recommend them to no one.

Had trouble with several fuel cells--difficult to light, some fell off,etc plus due to the size of the lanterns, several ended up with holes burned in them due to the long wait for them to heat up enough to rise up and float away. The ones that did looked great, though!
